<p>Does Rice consider the writing component of the SAT? I haven't got any information on the college website. But I found this :</p>
<p>The top 25 percent of the 2011 entering class scored above 1500 on the SAT; 75 percent scored above 1350.</p>
<p>I believe they do consider it. However, I also believe the critical reading and math are the most important sections. The “Critical Reading/Verbal + Math” score has historically often been the score considered by colleges for the SAT. The verbal and math sections are much more indicative of college readiness, in my opinion.</p>
