SAT writing

When they say they don't consider the writing score on the SAT, do they not look at it at all? Surely, it must bear some influence?

They black it out. (I'm pretty sure this has not changed from past years.)

so they completely ignore the writing score? What about the essay?

chicago's emphasis on essay=
other colleges emphasis on essay+ an SAT section+ x
where x is equal to the value of determining if you fit personality wise

i bet people are going to disagree with this, but this is my interpretation

do are talking about the same essay right? The 25min one on the first section of the SAT reasoning exam?

Chicago ignores the entire SAT writing section. The essays that they consider are their own and the common app's. In importance it is Curriculum attempted (and how well one did in it), essays, recommendations, ECs, then test scores (without the writing section, or SAT IIs).

are they listed in the order of their importance?

yes 10 char
