I am a sophomore in high school, and I am deciding between taking the SAT2 Chem test and self-studying AP Stat. I figure that to get a good score in each would take about the same amount of time, so which do you think would help college admission more: getting a 750+ on SAT2 Chem (I will submit math1, math2, and us history anyway) or a 5 in AP Stat?

I would look at the colleges you are thinking about applying to be sure because… A number of colleges don’t give credit for AP Stat and some give credit for a high enough score on the SAT2 Chem. Plus there are colleges that “suggest” submitting a math and science SAT2. IMO I’d suggest the SAT2 Chem.

Even if colleges don’t accept AP credits, does getting a 5 on AP test still looks good?

I took the Chem SAT2 in sophomore year last year. It does take a bit of studying if you did not take an AP class. I studied like crazy and got a 750 (but the curve was definitely on my side). But in my opinion, I think Chem SAT2 is quite straightforward.

I’m not completely sure, but I always thought that it was easier to do well on an AP than to do well on an SAT2. I could be completely wrong though as I have not taken any AP tests yet.

Yes it looks good if you get a five. However AP stats is not one of the harder AP’s. If it was AP Chem then that would be better.
