SATs and Medical Programs

Do SATs weigh heavily in the admission decisions for med programs?

I understand that you must meet the minimum SAT for a number of programs to be eligible to even apply, but beyond that do programs distinguish between a 1450 and 1550, etc?

Would having a high SAT help in Med Programs or it really more about the interview and ECs?

you have to have excellent everything for med programs.

SAT = initial cut factor
Interview and EC = final selections.
The SAT is meant to (somehow) predict MCAT and USMLE scores. So, schools weigh this quite heavily.

yes programs distinguish from 1450 to 1550...PSU's minimum cutoff for SAT's is a 1450...

to be a competitive applicant in terms of scores you ideally wanna be around 2250+, that is just one aspect though, like hydrogen3k said it is just the initial factor they use to weed out some stragglers, you must have much more besides the score to be competitive overall applicant

It's really important for PSU.
