I know this student who cheated on his SAT IIs by registering for two SAT IIS but instead he spent two hours on one exam and simply went back to the first test and pretended like he was taking another one. And he said that if the chaperone checked to see that his booklet was blank on the second exam, he would simply say he didnt have time to copy his circled answers to his test. And if colleges notified him about perhaps a 200, he would say that he accidentally registered, but didnt take it and that there was some mix-up.
Was it worth it to easily get away with it?

i hate cheaters!!
its never worth it:(

no, that was stupid

he probably still got a bad score on the SAT II. unless it was Math IIC

Or he'll have to deal with a 300 point SATII on his record... That's pretty bad. If he left the other SAT completely blank that counts as a no test and it cancels all scores.

"And if colleges notified him about perhaps a 200, he would say that he accidentally registered, but didnt take it and that there was some mix-up. "

Colleges won't contact him about the 200. They'll count it against him.

Should he decide to inform them that there was a mix-up, they won't believe him, but will hold all of his info under suspicion.

I'm actually interested what will happen if he gets caught.

In my experiences, the College Board is pretty lenient. I was sitting with a friend, and he went back to a previous section to during the test and the proctor caught him. After all was said and done, the College Board cancelled all of his test scores on that test and told him to retake it (and they didn't charge him for the retake!)

wait.. if you leave one answer sheet blank, that means the score is automatically cancelled, right? also i was told that if you cancel one SATII's you have to cancel every one of them that you were taking that day. so if he did what he did, wouldn't he end up with no score?

hes ok if he did not circle the subject test bubble on the top of the exam page.. if he did and left it blank it cancels all scores.

???

I thought on SAT II test days you could add/remove tests?

Wouldn't collegeboard just assume that he took 1 instead of 2?

It's a stupid plan anyways

I thought that you could register for more than one test but then actually only take one or two and CollegeBoard will onl count the ones you took. But back to that, cant you spend two hours one one test and not fill in anything on the second answer key and stil get credit for the one you took without being penalized in any way?

stupid if he gets caugth...genius if he doesnt..

yeah, i was thinking of doing 2 exams in 3hrs. but common, if you cheat on the SATs what makes you think you'll do well in college -_-
the person is lying to him/herself
there's a chinese myth that satirize this kind of situations
it's called "covering your ears to steal a bell".
and here is the story

in ancient china, bells were thought to be extremely expensive decorations, and there was this one person who wanted to steal the most opulently decorated bell from a rich family. but when ever one tries to take off the bell, the bell would start ringing loudly and other people would hear it. so... one day, this guy came back, he put cotton in his ears, so he couldn't hear anything and thought that if he couldn't hear anything no one else would, and he tried to steal the bell, and obviously he was caught and got chopped up in a million pieces and was made in to patties and served to the slaves, anyway, my point is, this person lied to himself and in the end, he brought the bad things on himself, just like the test taker who cheats!

Typically, what are punishments for getting caught cheating on the SAT? I mean I know it is separate from schoolwork and academics so I wonder how ti affects you collegewise? Ive read some major scandals but in effect what can an incident like he one mentioned above do to you?

I'm sure colleges get a report of it with your (canceled) scores.

doesnt work, man. the proctor puts his test on the pile with all the people who take 2 tests and if CB sees he only has 1 test done, they will cancel all his scores. and they wont tell him about that and let him make excuses.

hahaha i should have thought of that in May

I'm kind of shocked people are saying this is a good idea. It's one test. If you have to lie/cheat to get to a college, maybe it isn't the college for you.

if u get caught cheating on sat's you will get chopped up into a million pieces and made into patties and fed to slaves as the guy a couple above me said.

now that this thread is online i bet collegeboard will look out for this new way of cheating...
