So, I've been creeping around the boards for a while and finally decided to make an account! But I was just wondering how do you guys score so high on SAT's?! Everyone boasts their upper 700's and perfect 800 and I'm just in awe! Is there some kind of secret I'm not aware of?! :D!
I took the SAT's for the first time last month and scored a 1580, but I'm aiming for the 1800's, any words of wisdom/advice?

Ok, some REAL advice, because not everyone on the site is an a-hole:

1) CR- practice. Get the blue book by the college board, memorize commonly utilized vocab words for the CR section

2) Math- blue book again, usually this is the easiest section to improve for a lot of people. Gruber’s SAT book will help you if you are willing to buy a book

3) Writing - look up common rules or idioms tested on the SAT and practice.

Notice a trend? PRACTICE! Maybe you can google and find some practices, buy the blue book or some other book, or look up silverturtle’s guide on this website.
Good luck!

Thanks, I def. will get to practicing. I’m not trying for an Ivy or anything but Penn State is the ultimate goal, not sure if I really have a shot in hell, but hey it’s worth a try right?

^
Anythings worth a try when you put your mind to it and work hard :P

Umm, I think that if you can afford it, you should take an SAT class. People always complain about how bad they are, but if you find the right one, they are very affective.

I actually did take a class, and it helped a bit on CR and Writing but I have a feeling the math is a lost cause… I’m AWFUL at math o.o
