For those who applied to Wellesley (got in/rejected) what were your SAT/SATII scores?

I am DYING to go to Wellesley but my SAT scores are not that high and I'm afriad it'll bring me down (630 chem satII [taking lit&mathI in june] 610M 630V 650W SAT). I know the SATs are the only component, but I feel that it's brining me down.

Certainly doesn't compare to some of the scores others have posted on this website! My advice is to develop yourself in other ways--I showed passion for certain community service activities, for ex. Also, I was interviewed at the school, and am confident that also played a role. Good luck!

Don't worry about SAT's! Extracurriculars, teacher recs, and grades combined are way more important. I took the sat once and got 670 v, 720 m, 710 w. SAT II's, 630 bio m, 640 mathiic, 610 spanish!
oh and i got in class of 2010

SAT I: 660M, 670V, 740W (combined 2070)
SAT II: 700 Bio M, 710 Literature

While stats posted on Wellesley's websites show increasing acceptance rates the higher your SATs are, the scores probably won't make you or break you.

I've said this before, but as I learned throughout the entire college admissions process, Wellesley is one of the FEW schools (liberal arts or otherwise) who seem to truly and genuinely look at the ENTIRE applicant. (Of course that just means you have to work that much harder to really show what you're about.)

I'm in the class of 2010, too...
SAT I: 680M, 760V, 700W (2140)
SAT II: 710 French w/ listening, 720 Biology M, 730 Literature

I agree with the other posters. Although of course I can not tell for sure, I felt that what really helped my application was the interview; after all, what does a standardized test tell them about your personality, creativity or passion?

I would have to agree, as well. I didn't have an interview, or visit campus until Spring Open Campus, but, while I was there, I went up to an admissions officer to ask directions, she saw my name tag, immediately knew who I was, and started a fifteen minute conversation about my activities and interests. I was quite impressed.

SATI: 690M, 700CR, 680W
SATII: 740 US Hist, 740 Lit
Don't worry so much about SATs- my friends' SATs are crazy but I still got accepted to the same universities they applied to plus places like wellesley.

nora88- did you ever take the fr w/o listening
congrats on your score, i've heard it's rele hard to do well on language satiis without being a native speaker. even if you area ns, it stil l is an accomplishment when you think of all those tenses.
i'm a jr i took fr satii w/o listening in may. i thought it would be much easier based on the practive test i took. i got a 670 and will probably retake. not sure if i should take the one with listening because you know how fast those tapes can go

Hi, passionflower8... No, I never took French w/o listening (although I did do a practise test; I actually scored higher on the listening one). Yes, the tapes did go quite fast, but I felt that I got used to the speed level after a minute or so, and afterwards it was really quite all right, the vocabulary wasn't as difficult as on the written section, and the speakers speak without accents. Good luck if you retake, though I really don't think that you absolutely have to. O, thank you, by the way.

I hope I shouldn't be that worried about my SATs (770chem, 700bio m, 720 french w/o list.), but about this whole "extracurriculars count for more, etc." I'm President of Art Honor Society, a member of Honor Society, and Captain of the Water Polo Team. I'm also a hardcore competitive swimmer and water polo player.

APs: chem 4, world hist 5 (soph); bio, art hist, french, art portfolio (jr- no scores yet); will take calc ab, govt, lit, physics (sr).

However, I have very little community service/leadership- I have plenty of hours, but no actual projects with my name on them, and I've never done ASB or Link Crew (I'm also switching schools my senior year, so I won't be able to participate next year either). Will this lack of leadership/service seriously hurt me?

I'm glad that admission does not depend on one area in your application more than another...I thought I was a definite reject with an SATI score of only 2040

I don't remember my exact SAT I scores, but the combined score was under 1400 (on the old system). It didn't seem to bother anyone. Not having coordinated any service projects also didn't appear to matter.

Don't obsess about what you think you don't have. Focus on what you do have.

Hey there...I also want to apply for the class of 2012 and Wellesley is a favorite. But i'm on the same boat as you---my SATs aren't any good at all. However, I am stronger in other areas such as extra curriculars. I hope Wellesley will look at both of us with a sense that SATs do not best demonstrate who we really are. Good luck!
