Saw video of black professor being arrested, are the police always this aggressive?

Wow, saw a news video of a black college professor being arrested. It appeared to me the officers were incredibly aggressive. Seems the professor’s crime was walking in the middle of the street to avoid construction. Are the campus police always this aggressive with apparently minor situations?

Yes, very aggressive. Uncalled for. He was looking for someone to rough up…I can understand her outrage…I would have complied with his request to show the ID. I would have then proceeded to politely ask about an alternate route…

Does everyone have to keep their ID on them at all times to avoid the wrath of the campus police??? When I go for walks at night I purposely don’t take my purse so I don’t have to worry about being a target of theft.

Anyone over the age of 18(or 16) should have ID…Like he said, it’s the law. If an officer asks for it, one must comply. You don’t need a purse to carry ID.

He was clearly looking for a situation to occur & she fell right into his game. I so wish she would have surrendered her ID to him. What could he have said then?

Was this campus security or the local police? Does Tempe have some horrible crime rate or something? Why are the police so aggressive with an adult? What do they do to the kids who are drinking on weekends and goofing around???

I believe it was campus police. Again, he was looking to exert some power. I wish she was observant enough to see that & just given him what he wanted.

Wow, do they give the freshman (guess faculty and staff need it too) training during orientation on how to “handle” these campus police who are hired to serve and protect them? Are ASU’s crime statistics in line with other comparable universities? I wonder if this is an isolated incidence or should this be a concern for all prospective students and parents?
