I am very much feeling like the sandwich generation lately. The news from all my freinds is a combination of their parents dying and their children getting engaged/married. Where did the time go, only yesterday our children were babies and our parents were active grandparents!

I am so frustrated by the vaccine rollout differences in each state. I just spoke to my mother and got the run down of how everyone is doing. Bottom line is that I am the only person in our extended family over the age of 30 that has not had at least one vaccine.
I’m guessing I won’t be eligible until May because I’m 60 and the one health condition that I have isn’t on the list. Never mind that two years ago I spent 10 days in the ICU intubated and on a ventilator - my condition isn’t in the list so I’m back at the end of the line. So many people who know my history are shocked that I wouldn’t be able to get it early.
Everyone, and I mean everyone, is telling me to lie because I should have it. I’ve got to admit I’m getting tempted. So many other people seem to bending the rules and from what I understand no one checks. Maybe when they get to under 65 with one health condition I’ll just check the box and sign up.

What kind of boyfriend are you? You have seen her three times in a year and now you are dangling this carrot in front of her of maybe getting together tomorrow. She is lonely, you are not helping. The pandemic is no excuse. All the other young people I know have been seeing their significant others regularly throughout the pandemic. Even flying to see them, you have no excuse, can drive to get to her in under an hour. When this pandemic is over, I hope she meets somebody who is worthy of her love and dumps you.

Its annoying to listen to you laugh during the team parents’ zoom sessions about why your son’s mask is always under his nose and sometimes mouth in basketball while the other players make a serious attempt to keep it on 95% of the time - at least from what we can tell from watching the games online. Then we learn that he was at a party last weekend while the team was scheduled to play three games this week. Now several teams are in quarantine and our school’s team had to return to remote learning due to the son’s positive test results (the last game was canceled). I don’t like feeling so judgy but you work at the school and should be a more thoughtful parent.

I hate the phrase ‘my truth’. There may be ‘your feelings’ or ‘your point of view’ or ‘your memory’ but there is always another side, maybe many more sides. There is only ‘THE truth’ when it comes to facts.

Weather forecast is for 0-30 inches of snow. But maybe 10" or 15". Maybe Saturday, maybe earlier. Or Later. Maybe in the mountains, maybe only the city.

I have been reading today several articles about how some very large law firms took the $10 million PPP loans that don’t have to be paid back and have posted record profits. Yet they still get to keep the free government money that is probably close to a billion dollars when you add up all the money given out to companies that aren’t in any danger of going out of business. Meanwhile actual small businesses are struggling just to survive, let alone make record profits.
Some of these firms have laid off almost half their staff, several of whom are friends of mine. These are women in the 50s and 60s who have been unable to find new jobs and worked at these firms for 25+ years.
What really disgusts me is that the article I read today, quoting the head of one top law firm who got the free $10 million, as saying the people he laid off are not even missed, like it was nothing to wreck these people’s lives.
People are struggling to survive and these law firms are in the media boasting how they got free money, laid off people who don’t count, and have record revenue. I am absolutely sickened and hope there is a special place in hell for them.

I’m not sure your flag is legal with the words on it, but I’m glad to see folks protesting that way vs others. Kudos to you IF that’s the limit on showing your views (meaning no violence in other situations).
Almost everyone I’ve talked to lately has hit their pandemic wall. Including me. I’m going to continue doing what I’ve been doing.
