Say it here cause you can't say it directly- the get it off your chest thread (NO REPLIES TO OTHER POSTS)

I might just be witnessing the culmination of years of incompetence.

Married in the backyard, married in the church, does it really matter? Letā€™s move on.

Instead of spending so much time on this forum putting those of us down who are not yet eligible for a vaccine, but would really like to have one, why donā€™t you put your money where your mouth is and help those at a disadvantage for getting an appointment so they can be vaccinated. Then when my group is eligible (hoping what our governor says is true and it will be 5 1/2 weeks) those groups before us will be vaccinated and we wonā€™t be taking away their opportunity.

If Iā€™ve learned anything this last year, itā€™s that many Americans are essentially selfish and donā€™t want to make many (any?) sacrifices for others if it inconveniences them or makes them think they might be giving up some kind of right. I used to think that most people were essentially good, but no longer think that about the majority. Weā€™re lucky if the minority of caring people and those who are indifferent outnumber the selfish these days. This jaded opinion can apply to multiple social problems, so whatever your guess you are probably right. Vent over.

I get that you are happy to see me when I return home from work (or any other time), but could you please not bark at me for five minutes? I get it ā€“ you want to be walked and/or petted and/or fed. Iā€™ll do all that once I get into something more comfortable. We need to teach you English. And get you some Valium.

So much can be learned so quickly from basic google searches, though be sure to consider the source.

Orā€¦ thereā€™s what you overheard in the grocery store check out line.

The next time I hear someone say, ā€œIā€™ve done a lot of researchā€¦ā€. I am going to ask them to be specific and tell me which peer-reviewed studies they relied on.

Itā€™s about time you shared your wealth in such an impactful way. Long overdue, but I will say thank you. Your gift truly will make a difference (for 20,000 low income people).

Just found out one of my favorite students this semester will be taking a leave of absence. Heā€™s struggled living remote from campus while taking classes in a different time zone and, while at home, heā€™s got responsibility for his younger siblings (youngest is age 2) while his parents work and school for them is remote. A reminder that the load some kids carry this year is far more than not being able to socialize or do their extracurriculars. Some are living adult lives and they just arenā€™t adults yet. I do hope heā€™s able to rejoin us next year.

Wow, the feeling of relief after getting my first vaccination this morning is huge. Five more weeks and I will be able to breathe again.

It wasnā€™t a safety school if you were rejected. Safety = sure thing. Not likely, not ā€œshould get inā€, but definitely getting accepted. Oh, and affordable.

Obviously you realize your control is eroding. Your desperate measures to stave off the inevitable are pathetic.

Larry McMurtry has died. Such a fine storyteller will be missed. Itā€™s time to break out my tattered copy of Lonesome Dove.

Always amazed at what seems funny after a few days of very little sleep.

Zoom Seder was so much better than last years, full of terror and heartbreak for what was going on in the country and the world. Next year in Somerville!

I cannot possibly drink any more water than I am. Please, please finish making your exit. I liked you better before you made your presence known.

Many years ago, I friend told me her brotherā€™s wife was HIV-positive. I asked, ā€œhow did she contract it?ā€ and the friendā€™s response was ā€œwhy does it matter?ā€ I learned an important lesson that day. It didnā€™t matter, and my response should have been, ā€œIā€™m really sorry to hear that.ā€

I am reminded of that this week as weā€™ve told certain family members D24 has covid. Is she less worthy of your concern because you donā€™t approve of what she was doing when she was exposed? Youā€™ve done things over the past year that I wouldnā€™t feel comfortable doing (indoor exercise classes, hosting indoor holiday dinners with others outside of your household) and yet, if you had contracted it, I promise you, all I would have said is ā€œIā€™m really sorry to hear that.ā€

Probably shouldnā€™t have watched ā€œStill Aliceā€ again. I forgot the striking parallels to your situation. Bright woman contracts early onset Alzheimerā€™s. A daughter who is expecting twins. A husband who puts his career above taking care of his wife. Argh.
