Scanning 45 pages of tax documents??

So I have three institutions requesting our “2015 Federal Tax Return” through iDoc.

I just wanted to check before I went ahead with figuring out to do this. Does this mean that they want me to scan all 45ish pages of our tax return into a pdf and send it to them?

Right now I have a very poor setup for scanning documents. Usually when I am scanning music it can take me about a half an hour to get it right for a 4-page piece of music. As you can imagine a whole tax return would be an undertaking. Do you know of any better ways to do this? Do copy centers do this? Do you think I could ask the counseling department at my school if they could help by giving me access to better machines?

Yes to both

I have similar ‘poor setup for scanning’, and I found it much easier to just make a paper copy and send it via good old snail mail. Let them do the scanning on their end. IDOC received and processed it very quickly.

Did you use tax software to prepare your return? If so, you should be able to save your return as a PDF. Did you have someone else prepare your return? If so, check with them to see if they can provide an electronic copy of your return. If you prepared your own return manually, check a copy center for a scan. Also, depending on what is making your return 45 pages, you may not need to send all of it. You may not need to include certain backup schedules which may decrease the number of pages at issue.

Ask them exactly which forms and schedules you need to include of the tax return. If you email, fax or mail the copy, you might want to black out the social security numbers and any bank information.

Make sure to sign the return.

Staples will scan it quickly and cheaply for you…I imagine any copy center would.
