I am a 7th grader who took the sat for Duke university and received a score of a 1160 and worried about my future that I will not be able to reach my dream goal of a 2300+. I wanted to let this out in public so I can hear any great improvement story's about your sat from 7th grade to your 11th grade year.

Remember that the SAT is not meant for 7th graders! You took the test because you were recognized as being academically advanced for your age but no one expects a perfect score out of a 13 year old. All the high school classes you’re soon to take will help you to reach your testing potential. Chin up, you have a bright future there’s no need to be scared.

HAAAAAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA

If I took the SAT in 7th grade I highly doubt I would’ve scored higher than a 1000

Needless to say I got a 2160 on my last SAT.

So, lovely 7th grader, go be a normal 12 year old and hang out with friends. You don’t need to be worrying about the SAT this early and if anyone is pushing it on you, especially your parents, then you should tell them to back off because they are hurting you. That is all.

Oh and, do well in school. That’s it. That’s all you need to hear. Bye.

Don’t let it trouble you, you have plenty of time to prepare.
When I was an 8th grader I only got a 25 on the ACT.

LOLOLOLOLOLOL I know right

I completely agree with johnny

go enjoy life while you can because in high school you choose either party+bad grades or nerdlife. It’s difficult to do both. oh, and I’m curious; why are you taking it in 7th grade for duke university? o.O

Seriously, you won’t regret getting a social life, as in, not instinctively choosing your usernames (i.e. here on CC) as such. hang out. be cool. I regret not doing that back in 8th grade

You can take the SAT in 7th grade if you’re a part of the Duke Talent Identification Program (Duke TIP).

^oh, thanks. I was only aware of taking it in 8th for CTY

I scored a 1330 on mine in 7th grade, its no biggie if you dont do so well (but if you did get like a 1400+ you might’ve had some pretty cool opportunities with duke classes, if you could’ve afforded them anyways). I took it again last year in raised my score 500 points with no prep books or hard core studying, I plan on making a 2100+, but I’m shooting for 2400 just like everyone else.

Just realize that getting a 2400 wont get you accepted everywhere, so many 2400 are declined every year, and so many 1800, 2100, and 2200 are accepted to the ivy leagues. Shoot for 2400, but realize its pretty amazing if you get anywhere of a 250 point radius of there.

thank y’all for the advice. it definetly boosted my confidence!
