Scared!!!

My top choice, by far, is William and Mary. However, I did TERRIBLE on my AP tests (Got 3's) and on my SAT IIs (550 and 630). I didn't send score reports from college board to either of these schools, but they were still on my transcript. What are my chances of getting in with these terrible scores. Here are my other stats:

White Male from Virginia
(Extremely Rural County; One of the smallest in Virginia)

Political Science B.A.

Applying RD

GPA
3.94/4.0 U.W
4.36 W

(I only got one B my entire high school career, and it will go up after first semester grades for senior year are in. I got straight A's)

Rank
2-3/217

ACT
29

Senior Schedule
UVA Engineering 152
AP US Government
AP Calculus
AP English II
PVCC Psychology 200
BRVGS Senior Internship
Honors Physics (Don't offer AP)

Enrolled in a Gifted Program, along with taking all APs and Honor classes.

During 10th grade year, there was a problem with our gifted teacher and she deliberately gave everyone in the class a b. This dropped me out of first in the ranking. The board of supervisors and school board are deliberating on whether everyone should be awarded and A or a B, so my GPA/Rank may fluctuate

I also had GREAT recs and solid essays.

I was wondering what my chances are of being admitted. Thank you for your replies.

See, this is why I've been so nervous about posting here. 3s are not terrible on APs and you have to know that. Plus William and Mary doesn't even count SAT IIs. And a 29 is a perfectly fine score.

You have a much better chance of getting in than I do.

As mentioned, SAT-II's aren't evaluated for admission, and I'm almost positive that AP tests aren't either - they're only used to grant credits (which come in very handy in getting into-level classes out of the way.)

(I hate to say it, but mentioning things like People to People and Who's Who seems to actually bring your application down. But that may just be me.)

IMO, a very strong chance.

I am a senior at William and Mary. I believe that you will be accepted. Come back and let us know. You've done a great job in high school.

All the best,
Pedsox

good chance

You should be a strong candidate for admission. Being from a rural county will be a help -- schools like diversity.

Thank you all very much for your replies! I appreciate it. =]

I'm a freshman at W&M. I'm pretty sure you have a very high chance of getting in. Good luck! If you have any questions about the school in general, let me know!

Thank you everyone for your replies! I just got my Mid-Year grades back, and I got straight A's and moved up into the #2 spot in my class. How much of an effect will this have on my application?

I sent you a pm, christianh

I think you'll be a real contender for admission. I'm also applying this fall, and I also am from a incredibly rural area, and what do you know, we have similar stats (but way differently leveled classes). Don't worry about the SAT II's, they're just optional supplements. :)

Hey, you think where you live is small? My class is 83 students. xD

I don't think moving from 3rd to 2nd in your class will change your application strength at all, honestly.
