Any of you submitted your app online yet? I managed to see my Yale supplement in PDF from print preview apparently it won't work on my mac but it's fine on a PC, except that it cut off half my essay.. did the same thing happen with you all? Also the same thing with listing of official grades.

wooo... newt. I'm from Libertvyille so we're close by. do you go to Wheaton North? I remember playing you guys for academic/scholastic bowl and you kicked our butts lol

Nope, I go to Wheaton South. That's cool that we are both applying near each other though. I know there are a few other people applying from my school. I think the competition is going to be fierce this year.

did any of you get e-mails from Yale saying they'd received your app, even though you hadn't sent it?? It scared me until I read the second Yale e-mail in my box saying that my name had been put on the list of people who'd submitted their apps, even though they now realized I hadn't.

Yeah I signed up for to receive an application and instead I got three letters on three consecutive weeks inviting me to tour Yale's campus. The irony is I asked them to mail me the app during my campus visit.

The good news is administrative mishaps like that could mean that Yale unintentionally accepts me by sending out the wrong letter or something. That'd be nice.

Oh yeah - I too am applying SCEA... and oh God yes is the competition fierce.
In my small Connecticut school (senior class is 250), we almost never see Yale applicants. I think there were two in the last few years. Around here, LACs like Swat, Amherst, etc are all the rage. Yet this year 3 of the top 10 kids in the class are applying to Yale.

It seems to me that at least 50% of the applicants could merit acceptance, maybe even more. It really is a crapshoot.

I think it would be extremely interesting if Yale put out a full applicants' statistics document. That way we could truly rate our chances. From what I read about the applicants to Dartmouth in "A is for Admission", most applicants are not uber elite. I hope that is the way Yale actually is. However, those stats were from a long time ago... they are probably outdated :(.

I am seriously paranoid about them losing my application. I sent it certified mail so atleast I know they have gotten it into the building. From there on, who knows!
I know would love to know about the applicant quality to Yale. I hope all the candidates are not uber genuises!

I get scared looking at the 2008 prstats yale EA results. I think around 20% of CC members who applied got in overall. Thats not much more than the national percentage, considering how good everyone's stats are here.

good luck everyone.... 17ish days til deadline!!!... i googled the yale website for stats for previous yrs... didnt find much.... but i did find sat score ranges going to to like 1985, stuff like that.... can someone answer this question: does yale email you after they receive recomm. or just when they receive the app. or when the whole folder is complete???.... my teachers are piling stuff on us too....though, i think some of them do it on purpose b/c they know that we have to do coll. app.... i think theres 5 ppl in the top 15 applying from our school... im so scared.... ahhhhhh.... well, good luck to everyone again

p.s.- everyone on this board seems so much nicer that the other threads... :)

I recently e-mailed my local rep about what they do about notifying us about applications, and he told me that they will tell us if we are missing stuff. However, I do not know how we are supposed to know that they received everything.

I'm so excited. Everything is falling into place. I finished proof reading my activity essay now. I'll write my common app in the next couple of days. Too much hw today.

Damn you econ!

And one of my teacher's showed my his recommendation. It was amazing! The essay was so flattering and he gave me all TOP FEW IN MY CAREER. Which is amazing, because he's been teaching for 10 years.

P.S. if anybody, wants to give me their opinion on the activity essay. Post your email address. I'll probably only send it to people that I can trust. If that's possible through the internet.

I've turned in my application already via mail...I wanted to keep it longer, but I live outside the US, so I'm giving it time to get there. I know I turned in everything, but I'm still nervous that I'm somehow missing something!

I worked on my essays for SO long. Crazy. I didn't spend much time at all on my resume, though. But, newt, for me it was more like four hours on the weekend for four consecutive weekends rather than an hour a day. My counselor really liked my essays, but I think he's a little too easy to please. I hope Yale likes them! I took on the rather hackneyed topic of being a Third Culture Kid, but I tried to do it from an original angle. I hope it worked. My activity essay might be a little melodramatic, but the writing's good, anyway. I really care about my activity, and I hope that came through.
