Anyone been to one of these alumni events for incoming freshmen? My son and I can't decide if we want to go. Do plenty of parents attend?

Our family attended one in 2011. It was a brunch. Most students brought their parents. Lots of alumni were there- a couple short talks, the entering students introduced themselves, a raffle (I won a really nice USC sweatshirt) 6 Trojan band members performed, and a group photo was taken of the entering students. It was a fun experience. We felt proud and excited to connect with the Trojan Family.

We went to the one in Chicago. It was fun and we walked away with free t-shirts. My son met another Spring admit who is also doing AUP in the Fall. It was worthwhile for sure.

You should attend, bring parents. These alum are nice enough to host the event, it is polite to attend! We went to one at a very beautiful estate (and I mean estate) and the next year it was at more of a meeting space, still made cozy with all the USC people and goodies. Certainly go if it is convenient for you. I wouldn’t buy a plane ticket to attend, but would drive an hour or even two to do so, depending on where you are located.

Once again, great advice on this forum. We went this afternoon and had a terrific time. My son enjoyed meeting new classmates and I enjoyed chatting with the other parents. The setting was a beautiful home and our hosts were extremely gracious. The Trojan spirit is definitely infectious!
