Schambach & Bristol Scholars?

Are there any Schambach or Bristol Scholars out there who are planning to attend Hamilton? Or are there any who got these awards and are declining and why? Also, what other schools are you considering? (My D got a Schambach and is still weighing several schools.)

which award was that, cause if it was the one for the top 30 students that takes care of all of your demonstraited need, then yeah i got it

Dear Daddo09-
I wanted to write because your daughter and I seem to share similar choices in schools! I am currently deciding between Bard, Bates, Cornell, Middlebury, and Hamilton. I have seen your posts on two of these five. Can you give me any input as to your feelings on any of these schools?
P.S. I was accepted to Middlebury as a February student.

brittany--i know a fair amount about Midddlebury as my S recently graduated from there and my D has been accepted now. Midd is a fantastic school! It is certainly the most beautiful of all the campuses i've visited and if you like small college towns this is the best. the school itself is a superb LAC, maybe not rated at the very top, but close enough to rival all the other top LACs. One of the defining factors of Midd is its people--students, staff, faculty, everyone. there is no more friendly or hospitable college that i've seen. no joke--this place is special in terms of the genuine friendliness just about everyone exhibits. very strong in environmental subjects, languages, and english. my S was a history/spanish double major. Midd is close enough to Burlington (38 miles) and Rutland (35 miles) not be to so isolated if you really need a larger city. But yet it is 'isolated' in a good way--from all the negatives of urban congestion and sprawl. My only gripe with the school--for my S and now my D, is that their financial aid packages did not rival some of the other top LACs. meaning more loans and less grants. If the FA package was good enough, my D might be going there, but it's not, compared to several other of her schools. But as far as Midd goes, I have only very positive things to report about it both academically and socially.

I know less about Hamilton than Midd, but both my S & D applied there and got in. Not quite as serene and beautiful campus as Midd, but still very nice. I understand the academics to be very good, with an emphasis on writing. Smaller than Midd by about 600 students. Both my kids got very strong FA packages there. My D is presently considering Hamilton, but she has equal offers from other schools such as Amherst that she considers 'a better school' (academically, i guess). I think Hamilton is very under-appreciated and under-rated. From all that I know it is a terrific school with a somewhat questionable location in the 'boonies' of central NY. Also, there are about 27% of the Hamilton students who are in the 'Greek scene' vs almost 0 at Midd. I'm a little fuzzy on the Greek scene at Hamilton--they don't seem to say too much about it, but it is there and while it does not dominate the campus, 27% is still a substantial #.

If you have any specific Qs, post them and I'll tell you what I know, if anything. Good luck!
