Perhaps you can help me. I read that I will be able to see my schedule in the schedule part of Student Information Online once I am registered for classes. Does this refer to when CMU approves your proposed schedule in July or after you officially register for classes in August? If this refers to the official registration, then how does one know when his proposed schedule is approved?

Also I know that as long as your schedule is approved, you may register for classes officially on August 1st. However what time on August 1st is registration actually available? Is it available at say 8 in the morning, or not till noon? (The reason I ask is that my family is leaving on vacation that morning, and I'm hoping I'll be able to do it in the early morning before we leave. If not, then it will be another week before I can register.) Maybe someone who is a year or two above me and has been through this process before can answer this question.

If your schedule appears in SIO, it means you've been registered for classes. I can't tell you how to find out if your schedule is approved. Most likely, you will hear from your advisor through email. They change the registration process every year, and it varies by department, so no one can tell you much conclusive. Asking your advisor about the time is the best way to go.

Yeah I thought for freshman year they register for you...hence why we can see our schedules on the SIO...I don't think we need to do anything else...

theres no schedule posted for ppl in CIT i guess....and i too haven't heard from my advisor regarding my proposed schedule....i hope it happens soon since august 1 is coming near....

I thought that CIT people sent their schedules to their advisors, got some response about them being appropriate (or not), and then registered aug. 1?

That is correct, Krazy Kow. I'm just not sure how we get the response about whether they are appropriate. Can anyone fill me in there? (As far as I know I haven't gotten a response, but it may just be that I'm not looking in the right place.)

Also does anyone know the earliest time registration starts on August 1st? (Like I explained above if I can't do it that morning I won't have another opportunity for a week.)

As I said, it changes year to year. Last year CS just sent in a proposed schedule and got an advisor response, but actually scheduled during orientation. This week they sent in the proposed schedule, got a response, and immediately were able to schedule online. Perhaps you can try searching the thread archives for information on last year's methods, but it may have changed.

that's weird, bachovchin... everytime i send e-mail to advisor the reply comes very quickly.... I haven't gotten an official e-mail with titles like "Schedule Approved" or something, but when i asked her about my schedule the response was like "looks perfect!" ... so i guess that's how u get approval..

guys ill be in cit in the fall and i dont know why, but i was able to access the online registration early and already registered for my classes..then our advisor sent some e-mail saying if she caught anyone registering early shed put an extra hold on them.. i dont get it...can everyone access Online Registration already, but we just have to wait till aug 1 for some reason??? has anyone else already gone on their OLR?

well, basher, i REALLY think you should contact Ms. Golubski.. who knows, it could be like that you really won't be able to register on August 1st !
