Ok i submitted my schedule a while back... but im just wandering how do I know that they have recieved it. Do I have to call or is it posted online?

When you actually are registered for classes, you'll be able to see it on SIO. Go to http://cmu.edu/hub/ , click on SIO, and choose schedule. Make sure you select the correct semester (you can also see AP credits, when they get posted).

is that the only way you can find out?

Well, you probably also go into registration at the HUB, but that is the official place for your schedule. Chances are you'll get an email from your advisor, but I don't know for sure.

Hello guys, I am new here,

What are you talking about? Registering for what? Summer courses? Are you incoming freshmen?

Thanks a lot for enlightening me :).

Tobi

Yep, they're incoming freshmen. You should have received something in the mail from your department by now. What is your major, tobi?

Thanks for your answer! I am a Computer Science major. I am gonna take third and fourth year CS courses during my semester there.

ok, im in MCS, so i thought my schedule would never come up, since all of the colleges do things differently, but my schedule is up in the SIO section. everyone go check em out!

mine just says freshman schedules aren't final until august 18.

Can anyone tell me the topic of 76-101 Section B? Also, how is Jordan (my professor for 76-101)?

Section B
9:30-10:20
S. Jordan
Arguments From a Pandemic: The Global Response to HIV/AIDS As the 25th anniversary of the first reported cases passes, the world continues to be ravaged by HIV/AIDS. Twenty million people have died from HIV/AIDS worldwide, and the World Health Organization estimates that 40 million more are likely to die in the next decade, most of them in poor and developing nations. In this section of 76-101 we will focus on the global HIV/AIDS crisis by evaluating public arguments about education, research, treatment, and other priorities in the context of political, social, and financial realities for the United States and other nations. Our understanding will be motivated by critically reading challenging articles from recent academic journals and mass media publications, supplemented with short excerpts from literature and film. In a series of three major writing assignments, well first learn to accurately represent the perspectives of individual participants in these discussions by describing their arguments in detail, then well seek to clarify and define specific issues by putting the stakeholders into critical dialogue with each other, and finally we will enter into the conversation by articulating an original perspective on how the United States fits into a world strategy which demands global thinking but depends on local action.

Oh no! the sections have meaning.... this is going to change things quite a bit.

EDIT: where did you find that information?

^^^^

OMG! YESSSSSSSSSS!!!!! I picked the best section EVER! Section DD - "My Expression, Your Assault: Interrogating Freedom of Speech"

Thanks, I owe you one. Now, are there any other freshman CIT classes that vary by section?

But... I think I have a new faculty member as a teacher. Laura Di Prete

Just a heads up for you incoming freshman, I think that very few of the interp classes are taught by professors. Most are taught by grad students studying under some professor. Not that this really matters, because the structure of the classes is pretty similar no matter who you have. Good luck

I don't think anything else for CIT varies by section. The freshman seminars for MCS and H&SS do, but they're named different things.

Has anyone from H&SS gotten their schedule yet? My advisor told me probably at the end of this week..

I'm also in h&ss and awaiting my schedule...I want to order my textbooks now lol

Should we be ordering textbooks by now?????????

versatile I just wanted to get things done early...to be honest I think some probably get them on site after they get on campus

my bro did that when he moved in to his college anyway

i'm just bored
