^
How is that even possible?

Seriously. I’m extremely skeptical about freshmen taking AP Calculus, along with other APs such as World History and Physics.

AP Calc?, Really?

For my freshman year, I took:
Speech for a semester then Digital Communications
Biology I
Spanish I
Honors Geometry
Honors English 9
Study Hall
World History

I took gym in the summer. My school only offers honors for English and Math. We can’t take an AP until sophomore year, which is AP Euro, which I was afraid of taking because of horror stories from my older friends.

Self Studied: Civics, Econ, and health over the summer myself so I took:

Honors Biology
Honors English 9
Honors Geometry
AP US History
French 2
Web Design 1
Sem 1: Intro to TV Production Sem2: Intro to Art
Second semester I took a language class at the community college.

This schedule was a nightmare that year when I fit in extracurriculars. Really just take honors in subjects you excel at or subjects you don’t mind working hard at, and also get your required electives out of the way.

Not really sure if I can post pictures here but here’s proof if you guys want:

Let me explain, generally, each year, there’s usually 1 freshman in calc ab (at the end of middle school, kids in the advanced program take 2 placement tests and generally get into pre-alg (there’s a different name for these math classes at my school, so im going to use the terms theyre generally called by), then they take algebra 1, two or three kids attempt to skip geometry and end up taking algebra 2 in 8th grade and one or two of them generally skip precal at the end of 8th grade and end up taking calc freshman year). I had known a bit of calculus and my teacher noticed that and suggested I should study BC and she helped me through the process). There’s also no restrictions on science so there’s also a freshman in ap physics as well, usually the same one whose in calc. I also had friends who took ap bio as freshman. Most of the counselors have had advanced students in the past so they know what to expect and have a good knowledge of what’s appropriate for kids at different grade levels.

anyways, to the OP, don’t look upon my schedule as a norm. A good schedule to start off with for a freshman who wants to apply to good universities would be something like Algebra 2/Precal, Honors Bio (or something of that magnitude), a social studies class like honors world history/ap human geography/ etc, honors english, a foreign language and an elective

take as many honors classes as you can handle.

My schedule as a freshman currently is:
H Spanish II
H Biology
H World History
PE & Health
H English I
H Algebra I
Introduction to Technology
Introduction to Systems Applications

Thank you all very much! (except Francaisalamatt)
I plan to take:

H English
H biology
H geometry
French II
AP US government

and maybe a couple others like art or computer, plus a band or orchestra.

AP makes me nervous yet I really look forward to it. my middle school is boring. It’d be kind of nice to take a test that’s the same in the country, not just in our school, that’s different from the kind of stupid easy test we take every year since 3rd grade.

we’ll have a meeting next week then we will sign up for the classes. hurray!

taking a test that’s the same in the whole country is way more difficult-- your teacher needs to stay up to speed so you can score well… my calc teacher isn’t…

Yeah guys my frosh schedule was:
AP Physics C
AP Chem
Einsteinian nuclear chemistry
Calculus 4
AP World
APUSH
Quantum Entanglement Theory at MIT
Analysis of Kirby Calculus over at Georgia Tech
and P.E.

smh the people in this thread

ha you’re exceptional. Are you getting nobel prize?

^ That was 7th grade. I’m currently solving all the millennium problems for some quick cash before I discover the meaning of life through mathematics.

@ Minesotaguy: I actually almost believed you until I read the last sentence! A lot of people on this website are like geniuses. My school doesn’t allow us to go further freshman year than what I’m at. I honestly don’t understand how people get THAT far.

Did you all take AP exam right after each AP course?

my freshman schedule was:

Honors Spanish II
Honors Global Classics
Accelerated Math A/Math B
Honors Living Environment and Lab class once a week
Regular Global for two cycles, then Honors Global for the last two cycles
String Orchestra
Symphonic Orchestra
String Tech
Intro to P.E.

mehh…

Honestly OP, you shouldn’t even care about all the courses that other people are taking. What’s important is what your school can offer you. In my county, Freshmen cannot take AP. So no matter how brilliant of a wonder-child I may be, I can’t take any AP classes, even easy ones such as Human Geo.

I agree with Calvin. do as much as you can under your condition to challenge yourself. My school doesn’t offer many APs. I practically take every one that’s offered. and yes take the national ap exams.

I took:

Honors English 9
Honors Bio
French 2
Honors Debate
World History
P.E.
Art
Foods & Nutrition
Honors Geometry
Computer Technology

…got most of the required electives out of the way, took all honors when available

French 3 L1/Honors
Honors Chem L1
PE/Health (required)
Honors Geometry (was planning on Precalc but they didn’t let me take Geometry over the summer)
Lunch
English
Latin American History/Euro History 1 (required regional and euro history, it’s stupid and a waste)
Honors English L1
Music Tech/Videography (electives)
