schedule help - 6 hours in a row but sleeping in...

So I'm making my schedule for my sophomore spring and I just wanted to get some advice on two different schedules I could make - basically with one of them, my classes wouldn't start until noon but on Mondays I'd have class from 12 to 6:15 with no real breaks (3 classes, 10/15 minutes in between each so I'd maybe have time to grab a snack but not lots of downtime). But the other days would be pretty chill. With the other schedule, I'd start classes at 10 (still pretty good but not as nice as noon, and this is a class where attendance will be mandatory) and that way my Monday schedule would be 10-11, 12-4:45 which is a lot nicer, but I'd have morning classes every day.

I'm also hoping to intern in DC on Tuesdays and Thursdays (I'm enrolled in an art class TuTh that I'll drop if I get one), which is part of the reason I want later classes - If I have an internship starting at 9 I'll want the option to sleep in on other days of the week.

If it helps, here are my two possible schedules:

*Schedule 1: *

MONDAY
12:00-1:50 Arabic
2:00-4:45 Middle Eastern Politics
5:00-6:15 Oral Communication

TUESDAY
Internship/12:30-3:00 Drawing

WEDNESDAY
12:00-1:50 Arabic
5:00-6:15 Oral Communication

THURSDAY
Internship/12:30-3:00 Drawing

FRIDAY
12:00-1:50 Arabic

Schedule 2:

MONDAY
10:00-10:50 Oral Communication
12:00-1:50 Arabic
2:00-4:45 Middle Eastern Politics

TUESDAY
Internship/12:30-3:00 Drawing

WEDNESDAY
10:00-10:50 Oral Communication
12:00-1:50 Arabic

THURSDAY
Internship/12:30-3:00 Drawing

FRIDAY
10:00-10:50 Oral Communication
12:00-1:50 Arabic

What do you think would be the better option? As much as I would appreciate getting done earlier in the day, I'm also a night owl so being able to stay up later would be nice, plus option 1 gives me only one class on Friday which is nice, but I feel like Mondays would be super tiring. Has anyone taken that many classes in a row?

Thanks for any advice you have :)

I’d definitely go with schedule 2. I NEED downtime for the “Crap, I forgot to print…” or “That’s due TODAY?!” moments. I also need eating time.

Schedule 2.

With Schedule 1, it feels as if Monday is a wasted day. Start late. End late. Day is over.

I personally would go schedule 2. 10am class isn’t too early and since i never did homework type stuff in the morning, I would rather have morning classes and then do my work the rest of the day. Also, if your internship requires you be up in the morning, I would rather get up at roughly the same time each day. Ultimately this doesn’t have a “right” or “wrong” answer, it’s just a matter of what would work best for you. I know people who preferred to have some super long and some super light days while others were like me and would rather have every day be a few hours.

Haha ok it’s definitely sounding like schedule 2 makes more sense, I agree with you all that I’d probably get more done waking up a bit early and getting done early - I think if I end up with a super time-consuming internship I might take schedule 1 for more sleep (though I might cut out comm altogether in that case), but schedule 2 probably makes the most sense overall, especially if I can intern closer to 10 hours a week. Thanks for your feedback! :)

6 hours straight without a proper meal?! Heavens!! I’d die D:

I agree that schedule 2 is much more balanced. You’ll still be able to sleep in until 9 or so, making staying up until 1 or 2 am okay since you can still get between 7-8 hours of sleep. Also, you’d get out of class earlier on Mondays, so you can spend that time studying so you don’t have to do as much at night.

Good luck with everything! Especially with the internship. :)

There’s one major, important thing that you ALWAYS need to consider when scheduling: FOOD.

With schedule 2, you can get in a good breakfast, lunch, and dinner, which is always super important. You don’t want to be THAT person whose stomach rumbles loudly in the middle of class because you schedule too many back-to-back! (I may or may not be speaking from personal experience here. Lol)

Anyway, it’s always good to space stuff out. My spring semester (also a sophomore) is quite spread out (class from like 12-3 every day), but at least I can sleep in, study at different times, and, most importantly, EAT!

Good luck :)

@smwhtslghtlydzed: I’m a night owl too so I understand where you’re coming from in schedule 1, but schedule 2 would force you to be up early which I have found makes me feel like there is plenty of time in a day, whereas waking up later makes me feel like I have wasted a lot of time sleeping.

Plus Schedule 2 will allow you time to do last-minute things, grab food, etc. and it won’t be as hectic IMO
