Hi I am a tenth grader next year school year and I am wondering which science course I should take if I wanted to be in the medical field. In tenth grade I signed up for Accelerated Chemistry and Physics, its a two year course and after each year you take an AP Physics exam. The Problem is that it takes two years and after that I am gonna be left with one year, I really wanted to take AP Biology and AP Chemistry in high school. The question is should I take the Chemistry and Physics course and choose either AP Bio or AP Chem in 12th grade or should I take a Chemistry course which only takes one year. and then take AP Bio and AP Chem in 11th and 12th grade. Keep in mind this is for a student who wants to be in the medical field.
TBH, so long as you have had a year of bio, chem and physics in high school, exactly what courses you take in high school aren’t especially important in the long term.
You need a general preparation and background in all 3 of the sciences (bio, chem, phys) so you can do well in those same subjects in college, but med schools don’t care and don’t consider what your high school coursework looks like.
Do you have an intended college major in mind? A subject you prefer above others?
tl;dr It doesn’t matter which you take. Pick the class you like better.
