Schedule recommendation please! :]

Hi everyone! I have orientation coming up soon, and was wondering about a possible schedule.

I'm planning on taking Chemistry 1P for review (it's been years since I took it in High School, and it hasn't really been my forte class); this course only gives 3 credits so along with the Core Course and another GE course would give a total of 13 credits.

Should I go with Japanese, Chemistry 1P, and core?

Would Japanese, Chemistry 1P, Core, and a math course be a manageable load? *Proposed Bio major; I don't know if its 'safe' to push back a math course a quarter, and focus on Japn/Chem/core..

a bio major should have a schedule like this (according to advisers):

college core class

req. class for bio major

elective

if i were you, i would save my bucks and not take that chem class for review and instead purchase a sub-$14.99 chem guide book or go onto and read the http://www.cliffsnotes.com/study_guide/Chemistry.topicArticleId-21729.html</a> sections on chemistry for an hour of review.

so, i’d suggest drop chem 1P and take either the math class or a 5-unit chem class.

Bzzt. Gotta’ disagree with Emprise here. Chem and Math are your priorities. Drop Japanese. It is NOT an easy class and you get no GE credit for it (last I checked). For Bio majors, math can be put off for one quarter maybe, but you’ll be much happier to get it over with. Take the chem self exam if you need verification on how good you are at chemistry.

Math could be put off but I wouldn’t recommend it. I’m a bio major and they recommend that you take a math course, a chem course and your course course for your first quarter here. You could always take Japanese next quarter if you want.

Thank you all for the wonderful advice! :)

I actually want to graduate being able to speak Japanese and Spanish fluently. And yeah, I just checked and they offer no GE credit… Will this be a problem for me (in terms of fulfilling GE requirements and graduating in four years)? As for the difficulty, I’m going to study hard! I’ve read your other posts about how hard it would be without prior knowledge/familiarity, but I’m willing to put the effort into learning the language (I’d have to admit though, my parents would prefer it that I learn Chinese instead because - in their opinion - it would be more useful in the future).

To be honest, I didn’t bother to attempt the Chemistry placement exam because I don’t really remember any Chemistry. It was just a class I took in High School and passed with A/A-. As I’ve read in other posts, is Chemistry 1P covering only the first few sections that Chemistry 1A covers quickly, or not at all?

@Daydreamer81; Unfortunately, Japanese 1 is only offered the fall quarter of each year. ):

I’m really in a pickle and my orientation is tomorrow! Maybe I’ll enroll in all Japanese, Chemistry 1P, Core, and a math course and go on from there (if there aren’t any time conflicts)

Thanks again~!
