Schedule

I posted my schedule before and some people said I was taking the easy way out by taking the "easy AP's" I am doing absolutely nothing and making 100s in my honors classes freshmen year. This is my schedule so far. What classes could I replace to make my schedule more difficult.

Sophomore
Ap chemistry
Ap environmental science (requirement to graduate. I had to either take it honors or ap)
Ap us government and politics
Ap computer science
Ap statistics
Ap macroeconomics
Ap European history
Honors English 2

Can't take ap English as a sophomore but other than that which of my classes can I replace with a harder Ap because I want to go to top colleges. Thanks

Bump… I really want to take the hardest possible schedule and I need to know by Monday

I think if you took a ton of hard APs, you would be overburdened with homework. Also, what you have right now is pretty hard for a sophomore. I’m not sure if this helps, but I think this is a rigorous course load especially since you have AP Statistics and AP Computer Science…You also have AP Chemistry which is considered a very hard class…I hope this helps…

I want to have the hardest possible schedule sophomore year. I want to go to an ivy league college. I know it will be hard especially with my extra curricular activities but I think I can do it. To me it is not about the number of Ap’s but the rigor of these Ap’s.

For a sophomore, you are taking more than enough APs. The only concerning thing about your schedule is the lack of a math lack pre-calc or Calc which you would need unless you already finished them.

I took precal honors and I’m doing IB which is basically calc and higher level math jr and sr year so I want to switch it up and take ap stats. Also I want to be an economics major so I think stats would be more beneficial

What I mean is that the APs you have aren’t easy APs. When you take all 7 together, colleges will appreciate you having a passion for learning…of course, if you want to take even more rigorous courses, you could take AP Biology, but I’m not sure if you would have enough sciences to take in the later years…what state do you go to school in? Here, we can only take a few APs in 10th, and the majority are in 11th and 12th grade…

I go to school in NC my school is number 1 in the state. We are technically not supposed to take all these Ap’s sophomore but I took chemistry, civics and precal freshman ear which we aren’t supposed to do but I convinced my teachers to let me and I am doing well. I am going to do IB which has completely different classes than Ap so I only have the 1 year to take Ap’s then I will have all IB junior and senior

I understand now. I’m not familiar with the IB classes…will you take biology and calculus in your IB classes?

I took honors biology freshman year. I will have calculus and I think I’m going to take physics rather than biology in IB because I am more f a math person and I’m not enjoying honors biology as much.

Okay. Can you tell me what AP classes are offered at your school since you can only take them in 10th grade? Also, I think you should take the AP classes that aren’t offered in the IB program…you know, so that it doesn’t feel as though you’re going to repeat a class…

That is one of the reasons I want to take stats because it will be a little different. These are the Ap’s we have:
Biology
Chemistry
Physics
Environmental science
Calculus ab
Calculus bc
United states history
Us government
Comparative government
Psychology
Human geography
World history
European history
Macro/micro economics
Studio art
Computer science
English lit
English Lang
Spanish language
French language
German

Then these are the IB classes:
Physics
Chemistry
Biology
Math studies (easier math)
Mathematics (higher level math)
French
French ap jnitio (easier French)
Spanish
German
Chinese
English
History of the America’s
Economics
Philosophy
Technology in a global world
Theory of knowledge
Drama
Art

Would you cover all the IB classes by the time you graduate, or is it like AP where you pick and choose which ones you want to take?

You have to take Tok and then a certain number of higher level classes and a certain number of standard level classes. Most classes are 2 years (English, math history) where as most of the electives are only 1 year long (economics, philosophy). And most of the classes are equivalent to an Ap class. Because a lot of colleges don’t take IB credit most people take the ap exam at the end.

Which of my classes are “easy” and what harder classes could I take in place of these easier classes

take out AP chem…in our school its the hardest class

I want to take the hardest classes I can because I want I get into the top colleges. I want the most difficult classes possible so my question is what easy classes can I take out an replace with a harder class

OK going from Middle School to honors classes is one learning curve, honors to AP is another learning curve, and is much harder. Taking 7 APs next year basically means you will have no life whatsoever. Ivies look at a well-rounded student, not just somebody who stays at home studying all day and is crushed with homework. Seriously, that schedule is stupid in my opinion. Take 2 or 3 APs this year, see how it works out. Ivies would rather see 3 A’s in 3 AP classes then let’s say 7 Cs in 7 AP classes, with no EC’s and no social life. You have no idea what you’re asking for taking all those AP classes.

I’m still going to be on varsity tennis. I’m going to be vice president student council, president of fashion club and an FBLA representative. I am also going to be a member I deca, speech and debate and drama club. All my club meetings are before school and tennis is over by 6 at the latest. I also work at a tutoring center around 10 hours a week. I know most people are going to say I won’t be able to do it all but currently I don’t study and I stay up past 2 in the morning watching tv where as now I’m going to be studying 6 hours a day.

This is a very hard schedule. You could take Micro instead of Gov.
