scheduling advice: slavic 1 vs. psych 140 or 150

Hi,

I would just have a quick question as to which classes are more likely to fill up sooner. I am considering whether to add slav1 (elementary Russian), which has currently 18 out of 20 seats available, or psych 140 (waitlist 65, 95 available seats) or psych 150 (waitlist 61, 123 available seats).
I am wondering why there are so few people signed up for slav1 and if there is a high probability that this class will have filled up by 8/2/ when I have Phase II, or if not, and therefore it is better to put myself on the psych140/150 waitlist.

Yes, and also one question about waitlists for r5b classes -- I am now second on the waitlist for italian r5b -- do you think that there is a good chance to get into the class nevertheless?

Thanks!

Generally, you’d want to Phase I lower divisions and Phase II upper divisions (unless you had a particular session in mind). It’s not that different in this case, although it seems any choice you make won’t really affect your enrollment. You’ll probably get in all three given the amount of available seats in each class.

As for Italian R5B, a waitlist of 2 is probably good enough to get in. It’s not exactly ensured, but given the current time, you have some good chances. At least one will probably drop after the first day of class and someone may drop between now and Fall. However, I’d make arrangements for a Plan B in case you don’t get in.
