Uhm so why am I number 103 on the wait list for this class that is only like 200/450 full of students right now? Why are there so many seats for junior transfers instead of sophomore/freshmen? I don't get it...am i screwed?

Check the course restrictions, if you’re waitlisted it means you’re under one of the categories that’s already full. The category for juniors is not just for transfers, it’s for all juniors or all people who will be starting at Cal for the first time next semester.

In short, you may still get in if you show up to lecture assuming not all seats are filled, but I seriously doubt it. Better luck next semester.

OKAY this is ridiculous. Psych 1, nearing the end of phase 2, is still less than half full (200/450 students) with 300 people on the waiting list (!!!). I’m number 97 on the waiting list. On the schedule of classes, it said that basically all restrictions are open… and there is literally not one discussion section thats full yet. WHAT IS GOING ON

Seats have been reserved for:
Instructor approval; a Class Entry Code is required to enroll in these seats (Open).
Students with a class level of Freshman or Sophomore (Open).
Students with a registration status of New and a class level of Junior (Open).
Open seating (Full).

Weird. Are you a freshman with junior/senior standing?

I see they prefer underclassmen since it’s a psych major requirement, but I don’t know why else you might not be in…

Anyway, I think you should just wait it out and see how enrollment will straighten out after the first week of classes. If you’re open about which discussion section to take, I think you stand a decent chance of getting into the class. (unless the prof has some weird picky rules about enrollment…I’m surprised the waitlist is 300, but presume a lot of people aren’t serious about taking the class.)

No, I’m just a freshman…I was in FPF if that makes a difference…
