Scheduling my Senior Year

Hey guys! So I'm in the process of scheduling my senior year of high school and I would like to know your opinions on which classes to take. Which classes do you think UVA would like to see? This is what I'm trying to decide between:

Honors Physics vs. AP Bio
Z HS Calc vs. AP Stat (They don't offer Honors calc at my school, so it's either Z or AP, which I would probably get a very bad grade in, also I heard its way better to take calc than Stat, but I just don't know)
Dual Enrollment Spanish vs. AP Music Theory

Anything would be appreciated! You guys are awesome and I always love to hear what you all have to say! Thanks!

p.s. Just to let you know I'm already planned to take AP Government and AP Lit for sure.

p.s.s. I also know I don't want to major in anything science/medical/accounting/hard math related. Most likely I'll pursue something in business.

Couple of thoughts based on your comments:

Need more info on your previous coursework. What prior science, language, and math courses will you have already taken? How'd you do in them?

First and foremost, colleges want to see that you've had challenging courses, but that won't compensate for much if you get poor grades in them.

Yes, I think Calc is a better choice than AP Stats, but only if you will succeed at it. While not always insurmountable, you really want to avoid getting less than a B.

Getting an A in AP Stats will be better than a C or D in Calc, but if it is obvious you took Stats to dodge Calc......well, let's just say admissions people tend to frown on that sort of thing.

Btw, UVA Comm School (Business) will require you to do some level of Calc before they will admit you into the program, so you won't be able to escape it even if you do get admited without it.

If you do take Calc, but feel like it will be especially challenging for you, go with Physics instead of AP Bio --- it will leave you a little more time to concentrate on Calc than Bio will.

I don't know anything about about AP Music Theory so can't really help you there. What is your musical background?

If possible, take the highest level your school offers in your 5 core courses--that is, math, science, history, english, and language. If you have a choice of two honors or APs, take the one you will enjoy and hopefully you will do well. My D is taking 4 AP cores and a very rigous honors science course. Her school considers 3 APs rigorous, so 4 needs approval by the academic dean.

This was given a "thumbs up" by the alumni liaison we met last summer at UVA. Seems to be the right track as D has received a likely letter.

my prior courses include: earth sci - A, algebra 1 - B, bio - A, geometry - B, trig- B+, chemistry - A, spanish 1-3 all A's --- these are all honors courses

as you can see math is a struggle for me

physics at my school is considered much harder than ap bio even though physics is just and honors course

and I know I'm going to have to take calc eventually

I think I'll take Z Calc and AP bio

as for Spanish vs. AP music theory, I still don't know

I have a very strong background in music and would most likely receive an A in this class

Thanks for all your advice, I really do appreciate it!
Anymore input?

This kid from my school who now goes there took 11 APs in one year. Um, he was crazy.

Doesn't matter, tis where thou interests lie

I don't even think my school offers 11 AP's...

asdf...lol tough sn to spell...but I digress. For the 11 AP student, how many of those were self-studied? How did he do on the exams?
