scheduling problem

I have a dilemma.
Right now, I'm part of a club (triple A/state level) soccer team and practices are after school. But beginning this year, I want to participate in 3-5 clubs, all of which I'm majorly interested. So what do I do? How do others handle all those clubs? (I'm assuming most school clubs meet once or twice a month, but I think I still will have timing conflicts)

Forget about school clubs, the club soccer team is a lot more impressive than "Chess Club" or "Key Club". Plus if you are good, you can get recruited for soccer.

Not that I'm really into chess or anything, but why are clubs like this frowned upon? I've heard this elsewhere as well. I don't know .. chess forces you to think and all, right? I don't really get it.

I know club soccer is a very involving activity, and I personally enjoy the practices. But I also want to experience the school debate club because I truly desire to improve my public speaking skills. Also, our school has a club where we meet to discuss history and major events in the past, and I believe the club does activities. I believe this club would help me to translate my interest for history.

Also, these activities seem much more appealing than NHS/FBLA/blah blah blah.

Ouch. Touch situation to be in. The only suggestion I can think of is to wait and see how it goes. Join the clubs you want to if you can fit them in. Explain to the club or adviser from the get go your other commitments and may have to miss a meeting here and there. Hopefully they will understand and let you stay involved.

At my school though most clubs meet weekly (or at least every other week). I believe debate is pretty involved by itself. Lots of practices and meets. Every school's different though, so yours many not be as intense as my school's team. shurgs Hope it works for you.

My school dropped the speech class this year, leaving just the speech team. Made me mad as I really wanted to take the class as I have other activities that meet the same time as speech. But I'm taking an "Intro to Public Speaking" course at a local college first semester, so it still works out.

With a commitment to a sports team, around how many clubs are feasible to attend? I have several in mind: debate, history, a science club, and a government club outside of school.
