Scholar student?

I was just picked to be a scholar student at SBU (less than 8% of incoming class according to the letter) Waht does it mean to be a scholar student at SBU and what benefits are there for being one?

I know that being a university scholar lets you sign up for classes a while before other freshmen which is very nice… Ummmm I’m not one, but I know a lot of people who are. They have a special advisor who I guess is really great. They have their first semester seminar with other university scholars. You do get a free t-shirt at the beginning of the year for it. lol I can’t think of many other things, but the scheduling of classes early is really good

it’s basically that. you get earlier registration than other kids. you get some type of scholarship. you get a special advisor specifially for scholar kids who knows everything about everything. there are special events and trips you get to go on for free because you’re a scholar (bodies exhibit, spamalot, trips into port jefferson, etc.).

Plus, you have the opportunity to take your freshman seminar with this guy from the admissions office who is AWESOME.

:)

I love University Scholars; this is the first year I’ve really worked with the program, and I loved it. I even went on the Bodies trip, and despite my squeamishness, I’m so glad I went.

@psufan1991,

I was wondering if you were an Asian, specific a Chinese, because I am and about going to this school this falling too. Your name of ‘psufan1991’ is just like a standard way of naming a nickname constructs by your short name plus your birth year. well, the three characters of ‘fan’ makes it more convincing of PINYIN in Chinese. just out of curiosity, if i am wrong please forgiving me for such rudeness.
