I am a student from southern Missouri that was accepted into UIUC LAS. I have not visited the college yet, but I definitely want to. I was accepted as a James Scholar Honors student and have also received an invitation to go on a Scholar Visit. My question is whether going to the James Scholar Honors Reception in addition to an admitted student day or simply doing the Scholar Visit would be a better taste of UIUC. I don't want to spend too much time there and spend a lot of money on a hotel, so if the Scholar Visit is adequate then I would definitely prefer that! Thank you!

I think honor program reception may only tell you how the honor system work and what the benefits will be. You still better to attend the admitted student day which will provide you the whole picture of your college and major. If you already intend to be there, why not stay one more day? My personal opinion…
