I got into the Scholars program and know that scholars students live separately from regular decision students. I am thinking from withdrawing from scholars dorms and living in the regular dorms to get a "real life" feeling. Is the scholars dorms fun? Are there parties, etc. like any other dorm?

I’m in the Honors dorm. People play loud music. People play video games and watch tv and sports all the time. People stay up late, sometimes doing work, sometimes doing whatever. On a Friday or Saturday night, almost the whole floor goes out. People come back drunk all the time. Some people go out on Thursday nights too. Just because one is in the Scholars or Honors program doesn’t mean they don’t want a “normal college experience.” Think of yourself, you’re in scholars and you want to have a good time in college, right? Why do you think this notion would be so different for all the other students? We are after all talking about 18-19 year olds in college for the first time. It will be “real life,” don’t worry.

Listen to Bornin92. If you live in a dorm and want to enjoy the party life, you will have absolutely no problem. If you want to live in a dorm and always study in your room…well, that might not always be a possibility. With scholars, you will have the advantage of having people who are interested in a common area of interest (your scholars program) which helps to have people you see regularly and can do stuff with right away. You’ll find the people you enjoy hanging around with…it may be right away, or it may take a couple of weeks.
