<p>Does anyone know how many scholars for medicine were admitted last several years? Is there any advantage(s) or disadvantage(s) for out-of-state students?</p>

<p>It’s a very small number from what I remember.</p>

<p>I believe only one or two applicants get chosen every year. I’m pretty sure, but not 100% positive, that you must first be admitted into the Honors College program before being admitted into the Scholars for Medicine program. My son is in the Honors College and says he only knows of one girl who is in Scholars for Medicine this year.</p>

<p>Yes, SFMed took a class of one this fall, and there is no preference in- or out-of-state.</p>

<p>Thanks, Chris. It’s the lowest number I’ve heard about a BS or BA/MD program, which typically admit 10-15 students a year.</p>

<p>Hi Chris, do you know why SBU has a such low number for SFMed? Is this due to the lack of qualified applicants or the school policy or something else?</p>

<p>I think I know of two students in my year in Scholars for Medicine, and two in Scholars for Dental Medicine.</p>

<p>Honors College/WISE decisions have just been made – although not announced yet – so I’d think the med school requests will probably come in about two weeks or so.</p>

<p>We’ll probably start sending out transfer decisions in the next week or two.</p>

<p>I don’t believe the interviews have happened yet. If you’re being asked to interview, you’ll definitely know; I believe they send certified letters.</p>

<p>Just wondering, did anyone get their WISE acceptance letter that said their application was forwarded to the Scholars for Medicine program and still hasn’t heard from them? Are interviews done at this point?</p>

<p>I haven’t received anything about interview yet. I emailed the admissions office couple days ago, and I got a reply that says the decision will be notified shortly.</p>
