Stony Brook Scholars for Medicine Interviews

Did anyone else receive their Stony Brook Honors College/WISE acceptance that also notified that your file is being forwarded to the med school admissions committee for the Scholars in Medicine consideration? Does anyone know if they call majority of these forwards for interviews?

Just received an email from the Office of Admissions of the School of Medicine. Selected for interview! So psyched!!! :)

Received my acceptance letter to the Bachelors/MD program a little while ago! :)

For the record for future applicants:

There were three interview dates available this year: Thursday March 24th, Friday 25th, and Monday 28th. The dean who was present at my date mentioned that there were 23 interviews being conducted total for this program this year.

The interview day is structured really well. Depending on Honors or WISE, you have a talk/brunch with faculty and students from your respective branch. Then they take you over to the Medical Center where all applicants(Engineering, Honors, WISE) are taken to a room in the Admissions Office. There, you get your folder with a schedule for the day, including which interviewers you will have. Most likely, you will have 2 interviewers: a faculty member of the Medical Center and a medical school student. After some time, you will get called for your interviews individually. I found the wait to be a great way to make friends with the other applicants.

After all the interviews are over, there is a lunch with a few Scholars for Medicine students who will answer any questions you might have about their experiences, SBU, social life, etc. They also take you on a tour around the center, which is really cool!

The acceptance letter was dated March 31st, and was delivered by UPS Express on April 1st. I must have missed it yesterday!

I hope this brief is helpful to those who apply next year and the years after! I know that I was a bit anxious before my interview day because there wasn’t much info about the day on the SBU website or on College Confidential. Hope this takes care of that problem! :)

I am currently a junior, thinking about apply stony brook bs/Md program, what is your experience?
