Scholarship, decisions

Hi,

I really want to get into University's of Texas's management program. However, the tuition is a little high for me. But, I'm considering applying for a scholarship that will considerably reduce the tuition. The admission application deadline is in March and scholarship application deadline is in May. They will review the application for scholarship only AFTER an offer of admission has been extended by them.
Now, my going to UT will only be possible if I get the scholarship. Considering that the scholarship application deadline is in May, means that they'll make a decision by June. However, way before this I'll have to let other universities that I will be applying to know about the whether or not I accept their offer.

I'm just wondering how this works? I mean if I have for wait to UT to give me a decision about the scholarship, then my deadline to say yes or no to other universities will pass. And if I don't get the scholarship, then I'll be kinda stuck.

Please need your advice on this one.

Dont assume you will get the scholarship.

Some scholarships are administered this way. Otherwise they run the risk that the person they offer it to will go to another school and they will have to select someone else. Put yourself in that situation and you will see why they do it the way they do.

This is typically done with “focused” scholarships that require a separate app.

Never, ever, assume you are going to get a competitive scholarship. They are typically very competitive with a small percentage of applicants chosen. Even “guaranteed” scholarships sometimes run out of money and those that apply late are out of luck.

Apply to the school anyway. You may be surprised with another scholarship or good aid package, both of which you will know about in april. GL.

What is this scholarship? Is it a one year award or does it say that it’s for all four years? Most outside scholarships are ONLY for one year.
