Just in general: is WashU your first choice or will the scholarships play a big role in your decision?

For me… If I get a scholarship I would go pretty much for sure… If I dont I would have to think about it much more… Anybody hear for Ervin or fitzgibbon recently?

Also, does anyone know how the entrepreneur one works? Is there an interview or what?

I think WashU would be my first choice with a scholarship. I liked their swim team on my recruiting trip, and the campus is beautiful. We’ll see what happens with Emory Scholars, MIT financial aid, and my Ivy apps, but WashU would definitely be pushed near the top of my list with a scholarship.

So nobody has heard from Moog or USPM?

Its my top choice but its pretty much too expensive for me without getting this scholarship or any kind of financial aid. I’d have to really think about it if i didnt get anything

have the people who have been called been from the east coast?

Yep, I’m from the east coast.

I’m in the Midwest, but I live in Eastern Standard Time if that’s what you mean.

I’m from the eastcoast but I havnt heard yet. I’m also from scholarships that no one seems to have herd from yet so idk. I feel like they notify more based on which scholarship instead of location

The chance of a scholarship is less than 1% of the students accepted and 3% of the freshmen that enroll.

Below are stats on need based FA - 37% of enrolled freshmen received FA and with 100% of their need being met. This info maybe from the freshmen that enrolled in 2010 but is still accurate.

Full-time freshman enrollment: 1,477
Number who applied for need-based aid: 978
Number who were judged to have need: 575
Number who were offered aid: 556
Number who had full need met: 556
Average percent of need met: 100%
Average financial aid package: $33,505
Average need-based loan: $5,311
Average need-based scholarship or grant award: $31,747

hmmmm then i guess im banking heavily on this alphabetical order thing…

East Coast. Also, I’m half-white/half-Asian for Ervin, for the people who were asking about races. I could be wrong, but I doubt that my being Asian played a huge role in being a finalist, since at this point Asians barely count as a minority.

Can people be finalists for multiple scholarships?

Has anyone heard who has a last name that starts with a letter past F?

AsianGinger: You can be a finalist for multiple scholarships, but from my understanding you can only attend the finalist’s weekend for two. The two can then be combined for up to a full ride (the stipend + room and board + tuition).

Also, if people really are wondering, I am a white finalist for Ervin.

Has anyone heard anything about the USP in medicine or the engineering scholarship?

I applied to engineering and danforth and havent heard anything

congrats to everyone who was selected as a finalist and good luck to all those waiting. can’t wait to meet some of you in March! (am a finalist for two scholarships)

Six360. What two scholarships are you a finalist for?

Has anyone with a last name starting with S (or after) heard anything yet? I’m banking on this alphabetical order thing…

FYI, post have only included two scholarships - Ervin and Rodriguez. They are university wide specific scholarships. No one has posted about the school specific scholarships or the Danforth scholarship. Last year finalist for the Rodriguez were notified a few days before the other scholarships finalist were called.
