Scholarship/Financial Aid for Accepted Students

I have been accepted to Pitt but didn't hear anything about scholarship money. Has anyone received any info from Pitt about scholarships? Does anyone know if that info comes with the acceptance letter or separately? Thanks.

Look through some of the threads – scholarship letters have started to be mailed out. Scholarship letter usually arrive 2 to 4 weeks after admission letter. Sometimes they mention the scholarship in your admission letter.

Yeah, read the threads.

Hey since i recievd my acceptance (got into honors college) letter yesterday and my october ACT score comes out this upcoming Monday, will they consider my new ACT score (hoping for 32 or 33) when deciding on a possible merit scholarship? in other words, will my new ACT scores get there quick enough to make an impact?

Yes, by all means, send your new scores to Pitt. What do you have to lose?

I have a question about scholarship info. Today I got a packet from Pitt about my academic portfolio. Does the scholarship info usually come in this packet or another?

I didn’t get anything about an academic portfolio and I got a scholarship?

yea i just got a packet today that said on the outside of the envelope academic portfolio. It was just more info about the business departmen, besides what I had already gotten when i got my acceptance letter. I’m starting to worried that maybe I’m not going to get any scholarships from pitt as I got accepted about a month ago, but they just got my new sat scores about a week ago. Do you guys think I qualify for any scholarships? I have about a 3.8 unweighted gpa, 4.5 weighted and got 630 Cr, 750 M, and 690 W on my recent sats

I think you’re just a bit short of Pitt’s 1400 SAT unofficial guideline for the partial scholarship. But you could call and ask.

I also received the Academic Portfolio today, but I’ve already received a scholarship offer from Pitt (came in separate envelope).

I know the fafsa is not until January but I am curious. I did an estimate of my EFC based on the calculator from the college board website and I have an efc around $4000-5000. Based on this do you I am going to get financial aid from Pitt(I am in state). If yes does Pitt give decent financial aid packages?

Pitt will probably meet part of your need with loans. It’s hard to say in advance exactly what you’d get. I found the process to be fairly unpredictable.

Does Pitt offer University-based scholarships or does it rely on Pell and the federal loans? I qualify for the full Pell, which doesn’t leave me with that many loans, but even for a safety I’d like to have a better uplook. Obviously there’s no knowing until the packages come in, but I was under the impression that at FAFSA time Pitt only offered federal money.
