Scholarship Information

Has anyone heard anything about scholarships? I though I read that they contact you in the middle of January?

I read the same thing in their Financial Aid newsletter...and have been checking the mail daily. If anyone has received any, please post!

Good luck SCALZ1288!!

I spoke with the financial aid office and they said no merit scholarships have been mailed. They expect to get them out in the next two weeks. They also mentioned something about a 2nd batch of notification to be mailed a month after the first batch.

My D received her scholarship offer in the mail today!

Congrats SMDUR1970!! My D received her (Presidential) scholarship in the mail yesterday too!

NEWDAWN6, Thanks and congratulations to your D also! My D's was Presidential also...maybe those were the first batch.

My daughter was offered the Presidential scholarship also. I am thrilled for her.

SMDUR1970 - yes, we're hoping there is more to come on the next batch...we'll see!

SMDUR1970 & MBOGTOB - have your daughters decided for sure if they will be attending Loyola? And any of you attending the Overnight Weekend on Feb. 8th - 10th?

I got my scholarship today, Presidential! I'm so excited!

i got a presidential in nj today

if u dont mind posting.. what were your daughters' stats?

Nobody is posting an amount? They vary, you know.

Please post percentages.

D received presidential, 3/4 tuition, and its still expensive!

Newdawn6, you mentioned an overnight weekend Feb 8 - 10. My D was accepted EA but I didn't see anything in our letter except the Accepted Student Day in April. Just want to make sure that I didn't miss anything. Maybe if get a scholarship, you get a different info packet??? We're not expecting a scholarship.

D's stats SAT 1560/2250, Got full tuition.

mbogtob,
- Nice SAT!, my D's 1460 pales in comparison. Hence the extra 25%, huh?

everyone tells you its not about numbers, but we know diferent, don't we?

freshstart19: My daughter got a separate mailing for the Overnight Weekend after her acceptance letter... not sure why she got the invite.

As for her stats, I promised my d that I would not post them. She thinks CC is "silly". However, I can say the presidential scholarship was nice but unfortunately not enough. Loyola is very favorable to her interest of study and the size/location is ideal. But is it worth all that money??!! I guess it's still too early to know until all the financial aid comes in. I'm just afraid she will fall in love with the school further with the Overnight and we will not be able to afford it :( I keep reminding her to keep an open mind.

mbogtob & turtlephobic - congratulations! Will your daughter attend Loyola?

Loyola is still a maybe. Even with 3/4 presidential, Loyola room and board is nearly $10,000, so we still have to pay 17k/yr. We currently have better offers elsewhere, so it depends on the final figures.

My D's offer was full tuition; she also doesn't want me posting stats, but they're good (at least I was impressed!) She is keeping her options open and will probably visit to observe classes someday soon.

I just realized the plant we received while leaving the November open house, which lost its red flowers in December, is blooming again! Maybe there's a message there!

My D doesn't want me posting her stats, but she never checks CC so I'm safe. Not sure she will attend Loyola but my wallet is happy.

As far as Financial Aid is concerned, it will be the difference between the Scholarships that you have received and the EFC you score on your FAFSA Application. The EFC is very important because it represents the minimum that you will have to pay to send your child to any college they choose. It comes in the form of cash grants( usually small), Federal Work Study, and Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans from the Feds and sometimes the College. It is very unlikely that your Financial Aid will go below your EFC also Financial Aid is always subject to change both up and down. For example, if your child gets a scholarship from her high school or her community at Graduation the Finncial Aid could be and most likely will be reduced. However, its the same money just from another source. They will not reduce your EFC.
