Scholarship money

how much scholarship or grants or wutever money did you all get for each year attending ut, what are some scholarships you all applied for?

Freshman year I got 15k in grants 2k in scholarships
Sophomore year I got 3k in grants 3k in scholarships

You apply for scholarships all on texasscholarships.org, and around April-May timeframe they tell you which of the database of scholarships you got (if any).

Unfortunately, UT does not give out much in terms of either grants or scholarships (I had severe financial problems freshman year and it got slightly better this year), so do not rely on getting funds.

thats good u pretty much got full ride freshaman yr

One of the best deals you can get at UT (and I think most public universities in Texas) is the B-On-Time loan. It is a zero percent loan that is completely forgiven and turns into a grant if you graduate in four years. I have gotten it for the past two years and was just awarded another for the following year.

Also, national merit is 13k over four years. I came in my freshman year with several local scholarships that amounted to about $2500. These were replaced the following year with a UT departmental scholarship. Every year, I get more from UT and less from outside sources, so I guess that is a good thing.

I got the B-On-Time loan for this coming year (I'll be a freshman), but I haven't gotten any emails about all the stuff I have to fill out. When did you get all the promissory stuff when you were first offered your loan?

I really don't remember when I did most of that stuff, but the OSFS is pretty good about sending notifications of when stuff needs to be done. I wouldnt worry about it. It probably won't be until July when you fill out the promissory note.
