Scholarship Offers

Scholarships are offered on a first-come, first-served basis, so the allocated funds may or may not have run out by now. You could always call admissions and ask.

@hokiepokie2121 Please read the following thread. I believe it will be of some help to you.

Scholarship letters will come in the mail as well as be posted on the portal. Please see post #18 to understand how to access your scholarship status.

Checked the portal, she got the KNIGHTS ACHIEVEMENT AWARD (10,000 a year).

We are excited!

Is this the largest for OOS? It looks like cost of attendance is around 31k for OOS, this will bring it to 21, any way to request additional scholarship? Or just hope to get financial aid package?

@hokiepokie2121 Congrats to your daughter! Make sure she accepts or extends sometime in the next 30 days.

My D2 also got the Knight’s Achievement for non-FL residents. I looked into it and it’s definitely one of the better ones. It lowers her cost of attendance significantly but keep in mind that a program of study at UCF can include a 5th year (not included in the scholarship) or at least a summer or two on campus (also not included). At least that’s true for my D2 who is planning a character animation major. All state colleges and universities require one summer in residence in the state of Florida. If you haven’t already, you can help your daughter check the current online undergraduate catalog for her major’s plan of study - that will help you both figure out how many credit hours will be expected per year and over the course of her time at UCF.

After checking all this out thoroughly I have come to the opinion that my D2’s education at UCF will have a net cost of about the same price as our in-state flagship - so it’s a pretty good deal for an OOS’er! (and better weather than Minnesota LOL). We are visiting the campus at the end of Feb. to check it out.

@Mamelot Thanks! Congrats to your daughter too!

The scholarship didn’t state exactly how much it was for on the portal. I’m hoping that it will come in the mail. I read that the Knights Achievement Award is an OOS waiver, does that mean it the student pays in-state tuition? That would be much better than 10k (which is what I’ve read somewhere).

@hokiepokie2121 It is called an OOS waiver, but it’s a flat $10k/year… which isn’t quite an OOS waiver (their tuition rates probably went up, whereas the scholarship amounts didn’t correspond). From my understanding, that is the highest/only OOS scholarship that UCF offers - any other funds would need to come from financial aid options and/or outside scholarships. (and, from my research, their financial aid isn’t overly generous to OOS students)

@hokiepokie2121 @fivethirtyfive the amount must have increased this year because D2 received $11,000 per year (total value $44,000).

I got the Knights Achievement Award for Out of State Students. $11,000 a year(total value $44,000). UCF is at the top of my list now because of this scholarship!! I got the letter about the scholarship in early December, about 3 weeks after my acceptance letter came in

@Mamelot Oops! Yes, $44,000 over 4 years! I mis-remembered. :slight_smile:

Do you have to accept for get scholarship? ???

@gatoryes you have to accept, decline or extend within 30 days of the offer. The extension goes till May 1 (National Decision Day) assuming that this is for Fall 2016.

Mamelot mi son was admitted but still do not know if he going. …He have to accept the university entry for considered for scholarship. ?.. (accept the school)
Sorry for my english

@gatoryes - sorry! I misunderstood your question. He does NOT have to accept the school yet to be considered for a scholarship. My daughter was offered a scholarship and she has not yet decided whether she will attend UCF.

I hope that makes sense!

Thanks mamelot

my son got accepted for the fall. Got an email today. He is in state, his UCF sat score is 1360 (m+r) and weighted gpa 3.9. There is nothing under scholarship tab. Is there atill possibility that he can get awarded something? He is eigible for Bright Futures though…

I just got accepted today 3.7 w gpa and 34 act
Does anyone know how long a scholarship notification takes or what scholarships I could get out of state?
