Scholarship opportunity For INT students ? How can we get Max scholarships

i am a highschool pass out of the class of 2022 , and i am planning to do my undergraduate studies from the states , anyone can suggest me UNI’s which provide grants and also is affordable cause tution amount for us INT students is Huge as compared to U resident dudes , so i would love some suggestions and help.xD

I have to say that these threads make me a little grumpy.

“I want the US to educate me.”
“I also want the US to pay for it”
“Its too much bother for me to look into this myself. You do it for me.”

I hope you understand why this makes me grumpy.

Grumpiness aside, there are some questions:

If you are Class of 2022, did you not already graduate? If you are in the Class of 2023, you are already late in the application process.

Next, there are thousands of universities in the US. We can’t pick out a handful, especially without knowing your interests, grades, test scores, etc. You need to provide a LOT more information before people can even begin to try and help you.

i get ur point mate , i dont want the US to pay me for my education, what is want is a fair deal of scholarship oppotunity so that i can think of coming there , as not everyone can afford a 45K tution per year without any scholarship, even the avg middle class american cant pay off that amount , so what i exect from u guys is to suggest me ways to get it down to an extent where its payable that can be a bit higher than ur Fees. for example i can to the SAT. got my point brother??

Ok, so let me ask you the reverse question.
You have less than a stellar GPA, not particularly notable ECs, no SAT score - why should a university pay you to attend (via financial aid and/or a scholarship)?

Taking the SAT after you graduate from HS will not carry a ton of weight as the test is meant for HS students.

I would suggest looking at colleges in your home country.

thnx for the suggestion , appreciated.

u got a point, ig i will pay the 45k then lol, haha to be clear SAT are not the main thing in my nation , each country have their own exams so international students take the SAT aftper their highschool that also only if they want to go to the US

FWIW the full freight for most US colleges will run way more than $45k per year.

okay gotcha.

Fine (regarding timing if SAT), but do you know what you want to study? What type of college might suit you? Etc. you’ve provided very little information.

Private colleges are very expensive (around $80k/year) and only 7 colleges are need blind and meet financial need for international students. These are all extremely competitive colleges and nothing from what you’ve written suggests you’re a top candidate.

Public colleges (with a few exceptions) typically do not have money for international students.

yea got ur point , can u specify like the info u seek which might help u suggest me smthg.

If you’ve graduated from hs, what are you doing now? What country are you from (big difference trying to get accepted from China or India and smaller countries)? What do you want to study? How much can you afford without a scholarship?

There is a big difference between getting into Harvard or Michigan with a scholarship and going to one of the smaller public schools in North Carolina or Montana.

You are right that many US citizens can’t pay $45k either. They don’t all get scholarships but many do get financial aid from the federal government and/or take out loans that you aren’t eligible for. Some work for corporations that help with tuition like HOme Depot, UPS, or Starbucks, but you aren’t eligible to work for these companies either.

If you belong to a religious group, it may have a school it sponsors (BYU, some of the Baptist church schools, Liberty). Some international students get athletic scholarships.

You should also be aware that many students piece together a lot of little scholarships and it isn’t a big scholarship from one source. My daughter had 9 different forms of FA on her freshman bill, and one additional one that was sent directly to her. School, state, federal…she just kept gathering them in to pay the bill.

but if you want help, give a detailed list of what you are looking for and what you can offer - major, athletics, location (where you are, where you want to be), experience, stats.

Financial m looking for smtg between 10-15k annual tution , i am planning to study Bachelors in CS , i am talking about scholarships even in this GPA cause one of my relatives got into a well to do UNI with A GPA of 3.2 and a SAT score of 1300 with around 10k in Aid funds from the uni every year, making his uni fees around 17K per year.

Firstly, Thank you for your reply. I am From Nepal (if u Know) i am looking for a Computer science Degree from a mid range uni which should not close to community college. To be honest i can only pay around 15k without scholarships, i am not looking for a fancy UNI i just want to make my career and exosure wide , and make it big later on. i have seen few Unis which i am going to apply for Ex Michigan yea .

Going to a university in the US, is very, very expensive.

Someone needs to pay the bill. That means: parents, relatives, your government, or private scholarships.

Scholarships are hard to come by unless you possess amazing international abilities in athletics, academics, or world events.

The US universities lost a LOT of money with Covid. They are holding on to their small funding accounts such that only a few schools can afford to sponsor international students for 4 years. The rest are need-aware which means that your ability to pay their full costs will affect whether or not you are accepted.
(Need-blind schools just don’t look at your income when they are deciding whether or not to accept you. It does NOT mean that they blindly cover all of your need.)

You are required to have health insurance which is not covered by scholarships-so figure that $3k-$5K of your funds will have to pay that fee yearly. You need to pay for travel expenses and school necessities, also not covered by the school.

If you get in somewhere, know that they may not cover what you “need” but only what they can spare.

If you major in CS, you need to be aware that you will be returning to your home country after graduating from a US school. The schools will educate you, but immigration is not included in that education.

Please be aware that many US students cannot afford to begin at a university, so they attend a US community college and then transfer to whatever university that has accepted them. A CC in the US is not a derogatory choice. It’s there for affordability and preparation.

Please improve your grammar skills and write cohesively if you hope to get in somewhere in the US.

Which university?

Since you’re new to this site, you might not be aware that unlike Reddit, which is populated mostly by teens and young adults, most of the active members on this forum are closer to the age of your parents. Your use of words like “bruv” does not go down well, and all the abbreviations in your posts make them harder to read.

Regardless, you’ve received wise advice from multiple posters already. You might want to re-assess your plans. Have you considered other countries? Your neighboring countries India and China have some excellent educational institutions that will be much more affordable for you. Have you looked into those options?
