Scholarship revocation

My son has a merit scholarship and he is supposed to have a 3.2 gpa for automatic renewal. However, unless he can convince just one of his professors to change a grade from a B to a B+, he is going to finish the year at 3.185. Yes, after an entire year, it all comes down to one single + addition or - removal. He did finish spring with a 3.2. Based on everything we’ve gotton from BU, they will revoke this scholarship, even though he was as close to the minimum as possible without actually making it. Is there any way to appeal this decision? We cannot afford to send him to BU without significant financial aid. He is approaching all his professors about trying to do something for extra credit–one has turned him down so far. This is a kid who had some big adjustment problems and my impression is BU’s attitude is “TS”.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I was in a very similar situation with my scholarship at BU. Based on my experience and those of others I know, they will not give you any leniency on the matter. I know someone who had a 2.99 and needed a 3.0 and had to leave BU because of it. They strictly enforce those requirements and hold them to an exact line with no give or take. Hopefully that one professor has sympathy for your son and changes the one grade up one higher because I can almost assure you that the school will take the scholarship away unless the specific number is met.
