i’ve been accepted to BU with a 20800 dollar scholarship. once i got in i started slacking and i’m probably looking towards a 3.0 GPA for the final year. my question is will BU take back my scholarship money because of a 3.0? or do they look at the cumulative gpa over 4 years of high school which for me is like a 3.6 (expected). thank you

they won't take back their offer for high school grades. they will however take away your aid if you slip up when you're here at BU and are required to keep a certain GPA for whatever scholarship you got.

My guess would be 99.99999 no. Don't worry. 3.0 is a B. I could only see them taking money away from someone who went from A's to D's.

This is not 100% related, but figured I'd ask anyways...

I have no calculated financial need and did not receive any merit based awards or grants. Is it possible to pick up scholarships or merit aid of some type after you matriculate when advancing into the sophomore/later years?

i'm pretty sure that's where most money is.

no. merit scholarships from BU are only awarded to incoming freshmen.

b2700: the Bu website might be a more accurate source of info (but don't get me wrong--anecdotal info from CCers is always welcome!):

Boston University - Office of Financial Assistance - Grants and Scholarships

Looks as if most merit aid goes to incoming students but there appear to be some specific fellowship opportunities--you need to do some digging to find out.
