Scholarship situation at Temple

So, I’m aware that this past year scholarships were capped and students who had previously met the merit scholarship requirements were not guaranteed money due to the school going over budget in the merit scholarships they provided during the 2015-2016 applicant year. Perhaps this is a silly question, but will there be a lack in scholarships provided this year as there was last year? I intend to apply this coming fall and would like a general idea of what to expect (which I know can be a ridiculous request in these situations but). Yes so if anyone has any information or could direct me to an article because currently, the temple website is quite vague.
Thank you!

Temple no longer offers guaranteed merit scholarships for particular stats. Students in the last cycle did receive merit scholarship, just not guaranteed.

@filmgeekgurl If you look at the later pages of the Class of 2021 acceptances, some people give their stats (GPAs and SAT/ACT scores) and the amount of scholarship they received. If I recall correctly, those with a 34 or higher ACT generally got the Presidential (full tuition) offer, and it scaled down from there.

It’s not an on/off switch, but you are correct that the scores required to get various levels of merit aren’t guaranteed any more, so the best you can do is look at students who applied this year with similar stats and see what level of merit support they received.

@stencils thank you for the link! it seems like people with my similar stats are being given some merit which even though it’s not guaranteed, it gives me some hope!

For merit-based scholarships, Temple used to do a five tier program, where those with 3.8+ unweighted GPA and 1440(not sure about this one)+ SAT, were GUARANTEED a full-tuition scholarship. However, starting with the class of 2021, the tier system was scratched and ALL scholarships now have a cap or limit.

So scholarships are definitely much more limited than other years.
