Scholarship Weekend Invites

Today I received a letter from Vanderbilt admitting me and inviting me to their scholarship weekend in March for their full tuition scholarships. Anyone else get one of these/ know how many of the 50 they invite get the scholarship? Know other people who were invited? Note: I am not an ethnic or racial minority.

what does the letter say? how do you know it is 50?

Actually, let me clarify: This only applies to the College of Arts and Sciences. It says 50 on the letter and the website says they choose only 9 to actually get the scholarship, so the odds aren't too good. Perhaps they'll award other A&S scholarships at the weekend too.

vig180: what is the exact wording of the letter? Our letter says:

About merit scholarships and their intent to match every one of the visitor with full tuition scholarship.

Then it goes on to say,"I repeat that Vanderbilt wishes to offer you a full-tuition honor scholarship should you decide, on the basis of your visit, that Vanderbilt is the place for you".

Does your letter say something like that? and when are you invited?

Mine only says "I am pleased to inform you that you have been selected as a finalist for a full-tuition honor scholarship." The dates are March 20-22, 2005, but I think mine is for Arts and Sciences only. If I remember from the Rice board, your Son is an engineering major and thus has a completely different slate of scholarships.

i got an engineering scholarship letter too...and i think all of the invited students are pretty much guaranteed a full ride. My friend got on from the college of arts and sciences and I think there is another selection process for the full scholarships. congrats!!

Hey,

I'm a full-tuition engineering scholar at Vanderbilt in my freshman year. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions (or write them out in this post). I went to this weekend last year - it's a blast!

evil_robot:

I have PMed you check your in-box.

I got the same letter for the college of arts and sciences and am planning on going because it seems like fun and everyhting is free. I don't think i'll get the scholarship, but I was going to go see the campus anyway so this works out well.

I got the same letter from Peabody College of Education and Human Development. But, it didn't have the same assurance as the Engineering letter.

What engineering letter?

One of you may be staying with me - hope you don't mind Kissam too much :). Or my whacky friends...

the honor scholarship weekend invitation letter from the college of engineering, as opposed to the letter with the same purpose, but from peabody college. it depends on which college you applied to.

good luck to everyone interviewing! see you there! :)

Hope you guys had fun, I certainly did.
