Hi everyone,
I am an international student and was accepted into University of Rochester. I am actually very thrilled about the acceptance however I can't afford the tuition and my acceptance letter says the following: "After reading your application, the counselors recommended you as both a capable scholar and a
student with a unique perspective."
I am extremely confused by the words "Recommended" and "Capable scholar". Does this mean I have been awarded scholarship? or does it mean that i have chance of getting scholarship, or the fact that i was simply considered for scholarship. I don't have any updates on my MyRoc regarding scholarship and it still shows me in stage 4, but I have received my acceptance letter by mail and it opens up whenever i open MyRoc. Anyways, any help on this topic would be much appreciated because this is a very important issue for me right now considering University of Rochester is first on my list. Thank you!

Son received an email regarding a merit award a couple days after his acceptance and it is clearly set out on his myroc account. We are still waiting for the complete financial package and thinking it should be this week.

Thank you for telling me. Can anyone tell me how they were informed of the scholarship? was it through email or on myroc? I still haven’t been updated with anything I am starting to doubt i got anything.

Perhaps I’m wrong, OP, but I don’t think what was written has anything to do with a scholarship. I think this was just the language the admissions officer used to personalize your letter of acceptance. Rochester took you because something in your application said you had a “unique perspective” to add to the campus and that you were a “capable scholar,” a qualified student with potential for growth. I hope I’m wrong.

yeah I think so too… I was wondering if I should contact the admission’s office and ask them directly whether I have received any scholarship, because I have been reading on this forum that many people received their’s a week later. Also I was informed that it is very unadvisable to ask by yourself anything regarding scholarship… is this true? and anyways any student who may have received scholarship can you please tell me where the update will be (email or myroc or wherever)? thank you.

did you guys get physical mail saying that you did or did not get a scholarship?

I haven’t received any physical mail about scholarships. I got an email and it appeared on myroc.
