i was wondering what anyone thinks my chances for a scholarship at tulane would be. any of the scholarships that they automatically give and the full scholarship that requires a special application and project. if anyone here has a scholarship, please post your stats, and if you received the full scholarship, please let me know what the project is... thanks!!

im about to finish my junior year at a competitive public high school
my weighted gpa is 3.75 which puts me somewhere near the bottom of the top quarter of my class
i have taken 3 ap classes and will take 3 next year
i expect to get 5s or at least 4s on the ap tests i took this spring
i have also taken numerous honors classes, but not every one offered
sat: cr-750 math-720 writing-750
i retook the sat in june
my psat score will probably get me a letter of commendation
sat ii: bio-690 us-740 i will take literature in the fall and will most likely score in the 700s
i have played 3 different sports at my high school but none at the varsity level and i wont be playing any next year
3 years so far on the staff of the literary magazine, next year as editor-in-chief
2 years working for the schools television station, next year more advanced
essay writing is my thing so those should be pretty good

what do you think?

decent chances! Try to raise your gpa to the 3.9 or possibly 4+ level if possible and you will have very good chances ibelieve!

Take the ACT as well, especially if you sare good at the sciences. Spend $20 on a prep book and give it ten hours this summer. You might win serious money based only on test scores.

You're on your way!
As was already suggested, get that gpa up a touch and take the ACT as well. The only thing I might add which my s did....get some experience that broadens the personal part of your "resume" like volunteer work with the same group.
My s had similar scores, AP classes, his GPA ended up being a 4.0, his ec's were steady (not flashy) but his 4+ years of volunteer work at the YMCA, his self-starting (break-even?) business and two glowing/gushing letters of rec from his AP English teacher and associate principal helped immensely.
When Tulane passed on early decision he thought he was sunk...then they turned around and awarded him serious scholly dollars.

Good luck to you, stay focussed...you'll get those scholly dollars, I can tell.

idwatkwia - JMHO, but I think your SAT scores will get you a very sizeable scholarship offer. Apply EA and of course visit if you can. As for the project, I'm not sure advance notice would be any help to you. I'd advise waiting until the application is available online.
