Ok so, with the merit based scholarships UR gives out, how much is each worth? I personally received the Bausch and Lomb Science Award ($7,500 /year) and the George Eastman Young Leaders Award...anybody know how much this is worth? I just started looking into UR, so if you're a current student, how satisfied were you with the financial aid packages? Any other concerns? Thanks guys!

No one? No love?

The value of the merit scholarships vary depending on which scholarship you get.

The big scholarships are the Renaissance (full tuition) and the Genesee (half tuition). UR also offers full tuition scholarships to veterans who have 36 months or more of active duty service.

nardi925, If you won the Bausch & Lomb Honorary Science award at your high school, this is not an automatic $7,500 award. It allows you to COMPETE for this scholarship and is based on your overall application. Same thing with the Eastman.

Very happy with FA package. 10k scholarship plus 30K Rochester National grant. I think it helped that my parents make less than 65K per year and I have a sibling at an Ivy.

Ok thanks, anything else?

Don’t be afraid to question/ask for more aid. I have found both my admissions officer and FA aid officer to be friendly, helpful, and responsive.

I just found out I was nominated for George Eastman also. I wasn’t aware of any of this until really recently - were we nominated by our guidance counselors? Is there any chance we will receive higher amounts of merit aid after applying (like Renaissance)?

Ren and Gen scholarship candidates are selected from the general applicant pool. In other words, you don’t need to fill out an extra application or be nominated by your school. I think the nominating is done by your admissions rep.

Thanks, but does anyone know how much the Eastman is worth?

Prismatic — I know y school the guidance counselors choose who is worthy of the awards. Hope that helps a little bit.
