I have a 4.047 GPA and I scored a 1400/1600 and 2010/2400 on my SAT. I am VP of a club, member of NHS, spanish honor society, science honor society and played on two Varsity Sports teams. I was very active in community service. What am I looking at in scholarships? Not financial aid, strictly merit?

Look on admissions page. There is a link to money matters at bottom. That will list all the merit scholarships and the stats for each one (and for OOS if it includes tuition waiver or reduction). Just note that USC scholarships don’t use absolute numbers where you are guaranteed certain award with certain stats. It’s based on the applicant pool in a given year.

For instance, if you are OOS looks like you might qualify for mckissick ($2000/year plus OOS tuition waiver). If you are NMF guaranteed Leiber scholarship.

Just realize that even if you were to “only” get the $500 scholarship, that also comes with a massive reduction in out-of-state tuition, so it’s actually worth $1000’s.

Which, I think you have a good chance at getting. But you never know.

I think you could easily get the McKissic scholarship. that’s in state tution + 2k a year. Your scores might even be good enough for the Cooper (4k a year + instate)

It all depends on how good your application is.

Go ahead and apply for the honors college. The people that apply have top consideration for the best scholarships.

Note that you need to apply early in order to be considered for these scholarships. I believe the date is November 15.

The early date is for honors and associated selective scholarships - Stamps, Carolina, Mcnair, Horseshoe and Hamilton. The others don’t require early deadline but if your stats make you a potential for honors you definitely should go for early deadline.

I had the date wrong.

From [FAQs | University of South Carolina](<a href=“Ready to Apply? - Office of Undergraduate Admissions | University of South Carolina”>Ready to Apply? - Office of Undergraduate Admissions | University of South Carolina) :

AFAIK this applies to all scholarships, not just the biggies.

But Nov 15 is date for Honors and the top scholarships where they use honors application to pick scholarship winners…so that was correct for those.

“November 15, 2013: South Carolina Honors College and Top Scholars Application Deadline
