Guys..post the total scholarship/financial aid from UVM here..because I for one am surprised at this..crappy presidential scholarship. Do they expect us to go on this!?

No financial aid yet
Scholarship: Presidential, $1,000 a year. It's almost an insult.

I got $3000/year. Just found out by checking the website even though I was accepted in December. Saw in the new Newsweek college issue that UVM gives merit $ to 9% (I think) of Freshman averaging $2400/year. They don't give much!

Yea.. I got $3500 + $2000 (two different scholarships, or maybe it was two presidentials, heck I don't remember I need to look at the letter). But yea with being one of the most expensive state university in the country and significantly more money from other better schools (UVM was a safety) it's off my list for the most part as of now. I'm sorry - I don't want to sound like a snob, but seriously I was pretty disappointed with the merit aid too.

i got the 3000 dollar Merit scholarship too and so did a couple of other kids from my school. the Merit scholarship for Colorado was 15 grand a yr.... Big difference lol. hopefully i get some finanicial aid from UVM

So the cost for '11/'12 for OOS student was $44,132 (tuition, fees, r+b.) So if UVM coughs up another 6% increase (as in 2011) that will increase it to $46,780 for '12/13. If the increase continue at 6%, then by the time the student is finished in 2016 the cost will have risen to $55,715. AS the state only funds a very small % of the operating costs of the school there is a real serious exposure to the OOS student on the $$$ of things. Time for UVM to get REALLY serious about getting costs under control or the golden goose, in this case the OOS students will be heading elsewhere. It might be time for UVM to look at the University of Colorado model where the cost are locked in for 4 years at the entering freshman price and stop the shell game with the awarded scholarships.
