@mygoldenapples I would like to see your DD’s stats. Will you post them?
Does the Headmaster’s Scholarship pay for tuition and boarding?
Super congrats to your daughter!
@GryffinHunter Um… The official form posted elsewere looks too complicated for me … So a short form(?)
99% ssat and all 9s on ISEE (for both she missed 1 on reading), little less than 2300 SAT, mid 230 PSAT, competition math, a lot of volunteer hours with a leadership position
Essays: 100% on her own
All tests: no classes, no tutor, prepared on her own (I bought 2 test prep books and she solved them on the day before)
Recommendations: pretty sure that they were excellent
@heartburner I don’t think the scholarship pays for tuition and boarding. She has a scholarship that pays for her tuition and we got FA for boarding.
@mexusa Super thanks!
My DD got a scholarship at Choate that paid for the FA we needed (not full, but exactly what was needed!) as well. Her stats were similar, with various activities and characteristics that are considered “hooks”. So they will be meeting each other in the fall!
@my2goldenapples Congratulations to you and your daughter!
@mexusa Congratulations!
@payn4ward Thanks! I think it is starting to hit her now, 6 days later. I keep catching her smiling enough for those dimples to show!!!
Congratulation to your daughter! Sounds a very clever young woman!
Not sure who that is for, but I will grab it. Thanks. Very proud.
@mexusa Super congrats to you and your daughter!!! Well… They will meet, if I would be able to let her go to the other side of the continent…
@my2goldenapples: Thanks.
As a popular song said “Let it (her) go…let it (her) go…”
Someone once called me lucky, and I corrected them. I have not been lucky, I have simply taken advantage of opportunities when they came 'aknockin. And this is an opportunity that your daughter worked for! Don’t worry. She will be fine. PM me if you want.
Oops! Where did the rest of my comment go??i am pretty new here and I must done something wrong…
@mexusa (continued from the precious comment) My DD plays a sport for fun. She said she would be so lucky, if she makes a 3 rd or JV. But characteristic wise, she is the kindest, humblest, and the sweetest 14 year old I know.
It is so hard to post comments! It keeps disappearing!!! What am I doing wrong???
@payn4ward & @Britmom5
Thank you! My DD and I are very honored!!!
Please tell me what am I doing wrong… TT
We are still battling…
My whole time #1 choice, a day prep near my home and ranked very high in the nation, gave us very competitive offer that I would love to take! But knowing the fact that how much she wanted to go to Choate, I know I am in the battle that I won’t be able to win…She spent about 2 weeks of her winter break to write her essays for all her 7 schools… And she spent more than 3/5 of her time on Choate essays… Sigh…I know how this will end… But it is still very hard for me to give up on my hope…
Thank you all!
It would be recommended to let her make her choice… is she planning to go to Choate day or boarding? Don’t know which other school you are considering but sounds like both are great. You won’t lose in either case.
If your child is really set on attending a school, it’s probably for good reason. Choate is a fantastic school.
Let us know what you decide. Best of luck.
@my2goldenapples and @mexusa – Congratulations!
Gracias, danka, asante sana, xie xie, prego, obrigada, merci!!!
@TryYourBest1 She has to go as a boarding student. We live on the the other side of the continent.
@TryYourBest1 and @mrnephew At this point … I am pretty sure that she will be the one who makes the decision. I will keep your recommendations in mind. Thank you.
@mexusa I will!
@kaibab3 Thank you so much!
