Hi everyone. Most scholarships out there are for community college students which kinda sucks because if I knew that was the case when I was set on transferring, if I picked a CC, then I’d be eligble for so much scholarship money. Does anyone know of any scholarships for transfers?
The biggest source of scholarships is the schools themselves. As you build a list of colleges to apply to, be sure to investigate whether they give merit aid to transfer students.
Transfers rarely get merit aid and sometimes get financial aid. Your best bet is your state flagship - where do your parents live? What college are you attending? Why do you want to transfer? What’s your budget?
Did you get accepted to BC or Tufts?
It looks like you got accepted to Boston University. The school doesn’t give tons of scholarships out, and doesn’t meet full need. It also looks like you appealed your aid package there.
Where have you gotten accepted…and what sort of amount of aid do you need. You applied to some very costly schools many of which don’t guarantee to meet full need for transfers, and don’t provide much in merit aid to transfer students either.
While it’s true that some schools have merit awards for CC transfers, rarely is it a lot of money. Often it’s just a couple thousand dollars.
Don’t cut ties with your current school. Register for classes for fall. You may find that you’ll have to stay at your current school because of money.
